Ethel E. Paquin, 90, died Monday, November 19, 2007 at First Care Hospital, Fosston, MN.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 AM, Saturday, November 24, 2007 at St. Francis Xavier Church, Oklee, MN with Father John Kleinwachter presiding. Burial will be at St. Francis Xavier Cemetery, Oklee.
Visitation will be 5 " 7 PM, Friday, November 23, 2007 at Johnson Funeral Service, Oklee, MN with a 7 PM prayer service and for one hour prior to service at the church, Saturday.
Ethel Edith Brown was born November 7, 1917 at Brooks, MN, the daughter of Criss and Mary T. (Stahl) Brown. She was baptized June 13, 1936 at St Francis Xavier Church, Oklee and confirmed the same day as well. Ethel attended District #14 school at Brooks.
On June 15, 1936, Ethel was united in marriage to Aristide Paquin and then homesteaded on a farm 6 miles southwest of Oklee, until his death in 1973. Ethel then moved into her Oklee home until her final move into Poplar Meadows of McIntosh in 2004.
She was a member of the St. Anns Society and St. Marys Guild. She was a member of the Sew and Save homemakers club, serving as the last President. She was a lady of many talents. Ethel loved sewing and worked several years as a seamstress at Grobergs Manufacturing. She also made many beautiful quilts for her family members. As quoted from her journal, After my children left home and on their own, I got a job at Wally Grobergs farm factory, making foot stools, sewing stools and shopping bags and doing upholstery work. Then it got bigger and moved into Oklee and we made snow cat cushions and snow suits, jackets and mitts. I worked for several years. I enjoyed it a lot. I made good money and I spent it all . She was an excellent cook and had a gift of hospitality that touched the hearts of many people.
Ethel is survived by 4 children: James (Helen) Paquin, Reedsburg, WI, Janice (Charles) Seeger, Fridley, MN, Robert (Kippi) Paquin, Henderson, NV and Myrna (Everett) Engebretson, St. Paul, MN; 11 granchildren: Jim (Tiernee) Paquin, Jeffrey (Haydon) Paquin, John (Wenda) Paquin, Jayne ( Keith) Minch, Carl (Kathy) Seeger, Glenn (Sherry) Seeger, Keri Krumm, Jason Paquin, Lisa (Chris Cloutier) Engebretson, Kristie (Jeff) Anderson, and Amy Engebretson; 24 great grandchildren; 2 sisters: Bernice Hagge and Ester Mysliwy; brother: Leon Brown; 3 sisters-in-law: Helen Brown, Alice Brown and Mildred Brown.
She was preceded in death by husband: Aristide; parents: Criss and Mary Brown; brothers: Earl, Harold, William, Lester and Ernest; and sister: Alice Bergeron.
