Etta Payment, 89, of Red Lake Falls, MN died on Sunday October 21, 2012 at Hillcrest Senior Living in Red Lake Falls, MN. Mass of Christian burial will be held on Saturday, October 27, 2012 at 10:00 AM in St. Joseph Catholic Church in Red Lake Falls with Father Chuck Huck Officiating and Father Bob LaPlante Officiating. Burial will be held at St. Anthony Catholic Cemetery in Terre bonne, MN. Visitation will be held on Friday 5 - 8 PM with a 7:00 PM prayer service at Johnson Funeral Service in Red Lake Falls and also one hour prior to services at the church on Saturday. Henrietta Etta Payment was born in Gervais Township, Red Lake Falls, MN on April 11, 1923 daughter of Walter and Wilamina (Scharmer) LaPlante where she was raised and attended country school. On April 4, 1945 she was united in marriage to Xavier Payment at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Red Lake Falls, MN. The couple farmed East of Red Lake Falls their entire life. Etta was boss of the farm and raised their five children. She enjoyed playing cards, talking on the phone, Ole and Lena Jokes, having lunch, the table was always set, was a great cook, the best baker, and making soup was a specialty, she enjoyed the outdoors, trapping gophers, country music and dancing had a great sense of humor, was a great jokester always making people laugh, she played all kinds of instruments and learned to play by ear but her grandchildren were her life. Etta is survived by her five children Marlene Murray of Grand Forks, ND, Joyce (Richard) Kouril of Isanti, MN, Darrell (Cindy) Payment of Red Lake Falls, MN, Lucy Payment of Crookston, MN and Ella Inglett of West Salem, WI: 13 grandchildren Bryan (Randi) Berger, Scott Berger, Jason (MaryJo) Berger, Dallas (Stacy) Kounl, Kryssa Kouril, Amy (Trevis) Knutson, Daniel (Jami) Payment, Annie (Nick) Waldal, Amanda (Josh) Schuck, Grace Payment-Espinosa, Joshua Parnow, Jessica (Tayler) Kussman, Janessa (Special Friend Bobby) Parnow: great grandchildren Sara, Stephany, Devin, Alyssa, Christopher, Jason Jr. Kylee, Kayden, Lincoln, Brooklyn, Xavier, Aubree, Mady, Luke, Jordan and Peyton. Brother Eddie (Martha) LaPlante of New Hope, MN; sisters- in-law Theresa Maxson of Red Lake Falls, MN and Carmen LaPlante of Crookston, along with several nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, Husband Xavier Nov. 9, 2004, infant son Duane, infant daughter Phyllis, brothers George LaPlante, Leonard LaPlante, Ernest Laplante and sisters Erma Skala and Marie Gervais.
