Obituary

Eugene Frazer, 73, of Goodridge, MN died Friday, December 23, 2011 at the VA Health Care Systems, Fargo, ND. Gene was called to Heaven, by his son Brian on his birthday, who passed away 37 years ago, at the age of 6 ½ years old. Our loss at this special time of the year was Brian's most treasured Christmas gift. They will take care of each other. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 2:30 PM on Wednesday, December 28, 2011 at St. Ann's Catholic Church in Goodridge, MN with Father Rick Lambert celebrant and Father John Kleinwachter con celebrating. Burial will be held at St. Bernard's Cemetery in Thief River Falls, MN. Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM with a 7:00 PM prayer service on Tuesday, December 27, 2011 at St. Ann's Catholic Church in Goodridge, MN. Visitation will also be held from 1:30 PM until 2:30 PM on Wednesday at the church. Eugene Paul Frazer was born on August 11, 1938 to Harvey and Amelia (Carpenter) Frazer at Cass Lake, MN. He grew up in Cass Lake, MN and attended school. He joined the US Army and finished his high school while in the service. He served in the US Army for over 20 years. He retired as a Chief Warrant Officer in 1976. He was stationed in Korea, Washington DC, France, Pennsylvania, Germany, Arizona, Vietnam, Thailand, and discharged out of Fort Meade in Maryland. While he was home on leave, he met his future wife working at the café in Goodridge. He was united in marriage to Avis Milvina Sturre at St. Ann's Catholic Church on October 20, 1958. They lived and raised their family wherever Gene was stationed for the first years of their marriage. They had five children. After retiring from the service, Gene and the family made their home in Goodridge, MN. Gene worked at Arctic Cat for a year, and managed the Goodridge Liquor Store for three years. He then attended the Technical College for accounting in Thief River Falls. He then worked as a bookkeeper for Westside Motors from July of 1983 until retiring in June of 2001. Gene enjoyed hunting with his sons and grandsons. Gene always thought of how he could help his neighbors and others. He enjoyed doing things with his family and always making sure they had what they needed. Gene was a member of the St. Ann's Catholic Church in Goodridge, he served at the altar, taught church school, and held classes for the adults in church. Gene served on the Goodridge Fire Department for quite a few years. He was also a member of the VFW in Thief River Falls and was on the Veterans Memorial Group in Goodridge. Gene is survived by his wife Avis, Goodridge, MN, four children: Paul (Teresa) Frazer, Decater, MS, Wayne (Vicky) Frazer, Oklee, MN, Kenneth (Susan) Frazer, Thief River Falls, MN, Lourenda Colden, Goodridge, MN, seven grandchildren: Danielle, Tyler, Haydn, Hallie, Holden, Katelyn, Havanna, three great grandchildren: Brooklyn, Taylor, Dawson, six brothers: Harvey Frazer, Cass Lake, MN, Earl (Diane) Frazer, Thief River Falls, MN, Charles Frazer, Cass Lake, MN, Carl (Kathy) Frazer, Odgegum, MN, Robert Frazer, Minneapolis, MN, Mike (Judy) Frazer, Bull Head, AZ, five sister Beverly Wright, Columbia Falls, MT, Norma McMurrin, Walker, MN, Joyce (Danny) Morris, Cass Lake, MN, Myrtle Woods, Oklee, MN, Sandra Ryan, Cass Lake, MN, sister in law Karen Frazer, Cass Lake, MN, several nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends. Gene was preceded in death by one son Brian Frazer in 1974, parents, Harvey and Amelia Frazer, two brothers: Jimmy Frazer, Eugene Paul Frazer, three sisters: Lois Vezina, Denise Crooker, Shirley VanDyke, sister in law Bonnie Frazer, brother in law Jesse "Sonny" Vezina.
