Eugene LeRoy Rondorf, 88, died Wednesday, April 22, 2009 at his home in Rocksbury Township, MN.

Funeral service will be 10:30 AM, Wednesday, April 29, 2009 at Redeemer Lutheran Church, Thief River Falls, MN, with Reverend Terri Cuppett officiating. Burial will be at Greenwood Cemetery, Thief River Falls.

Visitation will be 5 " 8 PM, Tuesday, April 28, 2009 at Johnson Funeral Service, Thief River Falls with a 7 PM prayer service and for one hour prior to the service at the church, Wednesday.

Eugene LeRoy Rondorf was born June 3, 1920 in Rocksbury Township, Pennington County, MN to the late Willie and Marie (Anton) Rondorf. He was baptized and confirmed at St. John Lutheran Church, Thief River Falls. He attended Riverside School in Rocksbury Township.

On June 18, 1949, Eugene was united in marriage to Edna Iverson at the Iverson home in rural Thief River Falls by Reverend C. T. Fjelstul. Eugene and Edna lived all their married life on a farm south of Thief River Falls. Besides farming, Eugene worked at the Land O Lakes turkey plant, the sugar beet plant, Grand Forks, ND and was foreman at Transatlantic Hardwood, a company that shipped elm lumber to England. He had his own sawmill and sawed hardwood lumber for many years.

Eugene was a member of St. Pauli Church, where he served on the Council. He also served on the board of the Heritage Center, Thief River Falls and the Pennington County Historical Society.

Eugene is survived by his wife, Edna, St. Hilaire, MN; one daughter, LouAnn (Michael) Klym, Wilsonville, OR; sons, Dennis (Mandy), Husum, WA, Neil (Cheryl), Virginia Beach, VA, Wallace (Sherry), Fergus Falls, MN and James (Roxane), Thief River Falls, MN; 10 grandchildren; 3 brothers, William (Brunelle), Thief River Falls, MN, Rallie (Kathy), Brooklyn Center, MN and Leonard, Thief River Falls, MN; 5 sisters, Delores Gulley, Forest Grove, OR, Millicent (Allan) Paulson, Thief River Falls, MN, Ardellis (Marvin) Hempel, Portland, OR, Beverly (Milford) Baker, Valliant, OK and Sylvia (Charles) Wilcoxson, Sherwood, AR; a brother-in-law, Herb Goethe, Erskine, MN; 2 sisters-in-law, Mildred Rondorf and Olive Jorde, both Thief River Falls, MN, along with many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a grandson, Michael Rondorf; parents; 2 brothers, LaVerne and Alvin; 2 sisters, Blanch Goethe and Marzella Jorde; 2 nieces, Pam De Hahn and Delores Kleinvachter, 2 nephews, Craig and Roger Rondorf; sister-in-law, Sylvia Rondorf and brother-in-law, Clifford Jorde.
