Eugene "Ole" Wiskow Goodridge, MN age 79 died peacefully on Saturday, January 31, 2015 at LifeCare Roseau Manor in Roseau, MN surrounded by his loving family. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, February 5, 2015 at Faith Lutheran Church in Goodridge, MN with Rev. Robert Dahlen officiating. Burial will be at the Goodridge Community Cemetery in Goodridge, MN. Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM with a 7:00 PM prayer service on Wednesday, February 4, 2015 at Johnson Funeral Service in Thief River Falls, MN. Visitation will also be held from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM on Thursday at Faith Lutheran Church. Eugene E. Wiskow was born on February 7, 1935 at home on the family farm in Huss Township, Roseau County, MN the son of Dewey and Edna (Pederson) Wiskow. He was baptized and confirmed into the Lutheran faith and attended country school in Huss Township. Eugene worked on the family farm, farmed for some of the neighbors, and drove a cat dozer. Eugene was known as Ole throughout his life. Ole entered into service with the United States Army in 1958 and after basic training was stationed in Fairbanks, Alaska until 1959. He was Honorably Discharged on March 31, 1964. On October 22, 1960, Eugene was united in marriage to Olive Olson at the Faith Lutheran Church near Greenbush, MN. On November 8, 1960, the couple purchased a resettlement farm from Bill and Olive Rehm in Goodridge Township near Goodridge, MN. They raised small grains on their family farm and their three sons, Darrick, Darrell and Dean. Ole enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, playing horseshoe, spending time with family, and his petEJ. He was a member of Faith Lutheran Church in Goodridge, MN and Eagle's Club in Thief River Falls, MN. Ole served on the Goodridge Township Board for 23 years and also served on the Goodridge Community Cemetery Board. Ole and Olive were Rain Gauge Monitors for Pennington SWCD for 35 years. Survivors include his loving wife of 54 years, Olive of Goodridge, MN; sons, Darrick (Cindy) Wiskow of Thief River Falls, MN, Darrell (Janet) Wiskow of Red Lake Falls, MN and Dean (Sheila) Wiskow of Goodridge, MN; grandchildren, Troy, Travis, Brandon, Mikayla, Jeremy and Amy Wiskow; siblings, Doug (Clarice) Wiskow of Roseau, MN, Arnold (Eunice) Wiskow of Thief River Falls, MN, Elvina Shimpa of Greenbush, MN, Lorraine (Robert) Kvien of Roseau, MN, Loretta (Wally) Walz of Karlstad; sisters-in-law, Arla Wiskow of Thief River Falls, MN, Julia Wiskow of Greenbush, MN and Sylvia (Richard) Sannes of Holt, MN; brother-in-law, Frank Jackson of Ferndale, WA; many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends; and special family friends, Tom, Stephanie, Kendra and Grady Pederson of Thief River Falls, MN. He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Floyd and Mailen Wiskow; sisters, Lue Jackson; and brothers-in-law, Louis Shimpa, Verlin Olson, Gilbert "Pete" Olson; sister-in-law, Margaret (Alven) Swenson.
