Eunice Efteland, 91, died on Monday, October 30, 2006 at Northwest Medical Center, CNC Unit, in Thief River Falls, MN.

Funeral service will be at 10:30 A.M. on Friday, November 3, 2006 at Zion Lutheran Church in Thief River Falls, MN with Reverend Gary Johnson officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery in Thief River Falls.

Visitation will be from 5.00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. on Thursday, November 2, 2006 at Johnson Funeral Service in Thief River Falls, MN with a 7:00 P.M. Prayer Service on Thursday evening and one hour prior to service at the church on Friday.

Eunice Nelson was born on April 1, 1915 in Barnesville, MN, the daughter of Louis and Selma (Arneson) Nelson. She was baptized and confirmed at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Barnesville and also attended school in Barnesville.

Eunice was united in marriage to Earl Efteland on April 5, 1941 in Thief River Falls. She worked several jobs in Thief River Falls, including Oakland Park Sanatorium, J.C. Penneys, Dairy Queen and Mr. Duanes. Eunice spent the past eleven years at CNC and was well known for her kindness and caring for all the residents. She will always be remembered for her good sense of humor.

She enjoyed sewing, gardening, knitting, bingo, playing cards and baking cookies for her grandchildren. Eunice was always helping anyone in need and was best friends with everyone. She was very active with the V.F.W. Auxiliary.

Eunice is survived by three sons: Larry (Sharon) Efteland, Curtis (special friend, Julie Bruggeman) Efteland and Jim (Judy) Efteland, all of Thief River Falls, MN, Darlene (Jerry) Olson of Newfolden, MN and Nancy (Kevin) Shafer of Cloquet, MN; 14 grandchildren; and many special great grandchildren; one brother, Harold Smith; two sisters: Janette Taylor and Vera Smith; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by husband, Earl; one daughter, Shirley Tudy one grandson, Tim Efteland; and two brothers: Raymond and Kenneth.
