Eunice Ida Koskela, 92, of Plummer, MN died on Friday, February 1, 2013 at Pioneer Memorial Care Center at Erskine, MN. Funeral services will be 10:30 AM, Monday, February 4, 2013 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Plummer, MN with Reverend Jonathan Dodson Officiating. Burial will be held at the Finnish Cemetery at Plummer, MN. Visitation will be 3-6 PM, Sunday February 3, 2013 at Johnson Funeral Service in Red Lake Falls with a 5 PM prayer service and also one hour prior to services at the church on Monday. Eunice Ida Koskela was born July 20, 1920 daughter of the late Matthew and Lydia (Kela) Nerva at Plummer, MN. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. She was raised on a farm East of Plummer and attended the Finnish Country School. During WWII Eunice went to work at a defense plant in Chicago. She returned to the Plummer area and on May 24, 1947 she was united in marriage to Carl Koskela. The couple farmed the Koskela Homestead in Emardville Township until their retirement. Eunice was an excellent cook and she enjoyed working at the local Plummer Café's. Eunice loved her family and enjoyed having friends over to play cards, having coffee and lunch. Her favorite pastimes were crocheting and knitting. She enjoyed tending to her flower and vegetable gardens. Eunice was loved and will be dearly missed by her daughter Kathleen (Darol) Brasgalla of Bismarck, ND; grandchildren Timothy (Kimberly) Brasgalla of Moorhead, MN and Lisa Brasgalla of Fargo, ND: sister Bernice Genereux of Willmar and several nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband Carl Koskela, her parents Lydia and Matthew Nerva, brother Melvin Nerva and four infant brothers and sisters. The family wishes to thank the caregivers at Pioneer Memorial Care Center for the excellent care given to Eunice.
