Evelyn Gertrude Paetznick was born December 23, 1916 in Cedar Township, Marshall County, MN, the daughter of William and Mary (Hall) Paetznick. She was baptized in the Lutheran Church in Thief Lake and attended Koepp Country School.

On May 12, 1934 Evelyn was united in marriage to Herman Severts. To this union 6 children were born, Marshall, Zona, Alan, Judith, Larry and Dianne.

Evelyn worked at the Henning Hunting Camp in the mid 50s. In 1960-1972 she operated the Gatzke Sportsman Club. Evelyn loved visiting with all the customers and was a wonderful cook. She also found time to get her GED diploma. In 1972 they moved to a farm west of Gatzke, where Evelyn enjoyed gardening, canning and doing a lot of baking and cooking. She also raised chickens and sold eggs. Her pastime was working crossword puzzles, knitting and especially picking blueberries. Mom enjoyed having the children and grandchildren come to visit and stay at the farm.

Evelyn had beautiful brown eyes, that twinkled and a laugh that was contagious to all that knew her.

Evelyn is survived by children, Zona Paine of Badger, MN, Alan (Sandy) Severts of Gatzke, MN, Judith Hill of Long Prairie, MN, Larry (Karen) Severts of Fairfax, MN, and Dianne Kenworthy of Roseau, MN; daughter-in-law, Bonnie Severts of Gatzke, MN; 19 grandchildren; and 30 great grandchildren.
