Evelyn Swanson, 94, died Tuesday, March 13, 2007 at Northwest Medical Center, Thief River Falls, MN.

Funeral services 11:00 AM, Saturday, March 17, 2007 at Oak Ridge Lutheran Church, Thief River Falls, MN with Rev. Rena Peterson officiating. Burial will follow in the Oak Ridge Cemetery, Norden Township, Pennington Co.

Visitation will be 3-7 PM on Friday, March 16, 2007 at Johnson Funeral Service, Thief River Falls, MN. Visitation will also be held for one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday.

Evelyn Helgenset was born August 11, 1912 in Walsh County, Grafton, ND; to Ole John and Sophia Hildeborg (Skjerven) Helgenset. She grew up on a farm near Grafton, ND where she attended grade school. She moved to Thief River Falls, MN with her family in 1934.

Evelyn was united in marriage to Emil G. Swanson on June 24, 1950 in Bemidji, MN at the Nymore Lutheran Parsonage. They made their home on a farm in Numedal Township, rural Thief River Falls. In 1982, Emil and Evelyn moved into Thief River Falls where they resided on Conley Avenue South. Evelyn moved into Riverside Terrace 3 years ago.

Evelyn worked at Narverud Cleaners for many years as a seamstress. She enjoyed designing, sewing, and altering clothing. She sewed up until the week before she died. She wore out five sewing machines in her lifetime. She was a member of Oak Ridge Lutheran Church. She enjoyed fishing and traveling with Emil. She also enjoyed baking, cooking and canning.

Evelyn is survived by one daughter Sharon Andrews (Jim Holladay), Nashville, TN; one grandson David (Maurine) Andrews, Dover, DE; one great grandson William Andrews, Pittsburg, PA, special niece Ordell Adkins, Thief River Falls, MN.

Evelyn was preceded in death by husband Emil on August 11, 2004, her parents, brothers: Oliver, Harry, Arnold, and Ernest, sisters Elida, Olava, Selma, and Julanda.
