Everill Joseph Mercil 91 of Brooks, MN passed away on Monday, August 08, 2016 at the Pioneer Memorial Care Center in Erskine, MN.

Mass of Christian burial will be held on Monday, August 15, 2016 at 11:00 AM in St. Joseph Catholic Church in Brooks with Father Bob Schreiner Officiating. Burial will be held at the St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Brooks.

Visitation will be held 9 – 11 AM on Monday at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Brooks, MN.

Everill Joseph Mercil was born August 20, 1924 in Brooks, MN son of Louis and Louise (Champagne) Mercil. He was raised and attended school in the Brooks area. In 1945 Everill was united in marriage to Annette Thibert in Chicago, IL.

Everill entered the US Army on January 30, 1945 and served his country until his honorable discharge July 30, 1946. Everill returned to the Brooks area where he was an Auctioneer, was a foreman in the Lab at the Crookston Beet Plant, bought and sold livestock, owned a Semi Truck and for many years owned and operated a cemetery in Duluth, MN. Everill retired in 1978 and moved to Florida and in 2007 moved back to the Brooks area.

He loved being an auctioneer, loved horses and attending yard sales, gardening, and riding around Brooks on his golf cart.

Everill was a member of the Plummer American Legion and life member of the Thief River Falls VFW.

He is survived by his children Judie (Tom) Fallon of Leesburg, FL, Joseph (Nola) Mercil of Brooks, MN, Suzanne (Randy) McRae of Greenville, SC and Mary (Billy) Smith of Tacoma, WA; grandchildren Tammy Mercil, Teri (friend Jarod) Mercil, Carmen (Brent) Schilling, Colleen (Chris) Anderson, Carrie (Nick) Crovello, Chris (Kelly) McRae, Chad (Hunter) McRae, Josh McRae, Eric (Sarah) Rozzano and Amy Rozzano; 25 great-grandchildren; sisters Dallas Paradis of Erskine, MN, Donna Bergeron of Thief River Falls, MN, and Madalene (Parnell)Thibert of Dixon, IL and his good friend Beverly Plante of Brooks, MN.

He is preceded in death by his parents, brothers Don Mercil and Lloyd Mercil, daughter-in-law Gabriele Mercil, granddaughter Tanya Mercil and brothers-in-law Willard Bergeron and Ronald Paradis.
