Obituary

Ezella Schiefert, 98, died peacefully on Wednesday, December 29, 2010 at Bethany Homes in Fargo, ND.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 AM on Monday, January 3, 2011 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Red Lake Falls, MN with Fr. Chuck Huck presiding. Burial will follow at St. Anthony Cemetery in Terrebonne, MN.

Visitation will be held from 3:00 PM until 6:00 PM on Sunday, January 2, 2011 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Red Lake Falls, MN, with a Prayer Service at 5:00 PM. Visitation will also be held one hour prior to the service on Monday at the church.

Ezella Marie Quesnel was born on May 19, 1912 at home in Terrebonne Township, the daughter of Robert and Fedora (Laurent). Ezella grew up in the Terrebonne area and attended grade school at Prairie Queen. She attended high school in Mentor, MN, graduating in 1929. Ezella was baptized and confirmed in the Catholic Faith at St. Anthonys Catholic Church in Terrebonne.

After high school, Ezella helped her parents on the family farm. When one of her brothers left home, her family hired Anthony (Tony) Schiefert to help them on the farm. Ezella and Anthony soon fell in love and were married on February 20, 1939. After marriage, they farmed together for three years in Terrebonne Township where their first child Bobbie was born. They then moved to a farm north of Red Lake Falls, where they also farmed for a year. In 1942, Tony and Ezella bought their home place in Poplar River Township where they raised their family of seven children and farmed until Tony passed away in 1974.

Several years after Tonys death, Ezella moved to Sunset Court in Red Lake Falls, MN. She moved to Minot, ND and eventually to Fargo, ND where she has since resided at Bethany Homes.

Ezella will be remembered for her beautiful sewing, her love of playing cards, and her wonderful cooking and baking. She enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Gardening, decorating, crafts and her cats were a constant pleasure to her.

Ezella is survived by her children: Bobbie (Dick) Milne of Dallas, TX, Lonnie Schiefert of Fergus Falls, MN, Claire (Marlys) Schiefert of Hopkins, MN, Marlin (Linda) Schiefert of Hawley, MN, DeLayne (Dean) Lampe of West Fargo, ND, DeEtte (Jim) Nygard of Denver, CO, Roxanne (Rick) Wittmeier of Hot Springs, SD; 22 grandchildren; 30 great grandchildren and 1 great great granddaughter.

Preceding Ezella in death is her husband, Tony; 2 sisters and 3 brothers.
