Fay Ness, 84, died Tuesday, February 13, 2007 at Northwest Medical Center, Thief River Falls, MN.

Funeral service will be 3 PM, Saturday, February 17, 2007 at Abundant Life Lutheran Church, Thief River Falls, MN with Reverend Wesley Langaas officiating. Burial will be at Greenwood Cemetery, Thief River Falls.

Visitation will be 5 PM-8 PM, Friday, February 16, 2007 at Johnson Funeral Service, Thief River Falls, with a 7 PM prayer service and for one hour prior to service at the church, Saturday.

Fay Minnie Bucholz was born August 24, 1922 in Grygla, MN, the daughter of Fredrick and Minnie (Franzman) Bucholz. She was baptized on September 13, 1922 and confirmed on November 18, 1934 into the Lutheran faith at Grygla, MN. She grew up in the area and attended country grade school at Grygla and graduated from Goodridge High School in 1939. Fay attended Teachers college in Bemidji, MN, graduating in 1941 and taught for several years in Grygla schools.

On April 9, 1944, Fay was united in marriage to Clifford Rude at Grygla, MN. To this union 4 children were born: Richard, LuAnn, Laurel and David. Clifford died from cancer in 1950.

On November 10, 1956, Fay married Harvey L. Ness. To this union one child was born, Julie. They made their home in Minnie Township, Beltrami County, MN. In 1968 they moved to Thief River Falls where they have since resided. On November 10, 2006 they celebrated 50 years of marriage.

Fays family was very important. She loved spending time with friends and family, gardening, playing organ at Bethel Lutheran and Our Saviors Churches in Grygla, MN. She was an excellent cook and was a member of Silverton Home Makers, a member of Abundant Life Lutheran Church, Thief River Falls, where she was active and enjoyed singing in the choir. She also enjoyed spending time at the Heritage Center, Thief River Falls. Fay was an avid reader and worked on crossword puzzles daily. She and Harvey enjoyed traveling. Some trips included the Canadian Rockies and ejnoying the fall seasons on the east coast and Washington.

Fay is survived by husband Harvey, Thief River Falls, MN; 5 children: Richard W. Rude, Thief River Falls, MN, LuAnn (Duane) Lusignan, Laurel (Steven) Swanson, David (Jade) Rude and Julie (Les) Trandem all of Thief River Falls, MN; 11 grandchildren: Jill (Brad) Buck, Tracy (Joel) Hallstrom, Jay (Molly) Lusignan, Michael (Rebeka) Swanson, Michelle (Brian) Benitt, Jeremy (fianc, Tara Scherling) Swanson, Rachel Rude, Jennifer (Dan) Berggren, Jordan, Zachary and Lauren Bauer; 11 great grandchildren: Samatha and Emily Buck, Chase and Cali Lusignan, Gabrielle and Jesse Hallstrom, Jacob and Kayli Swanson, Megan, Eryn and Keegan Benitt; brother: Ronald (Marilyn) Bucholz, Carrington, ND; sister: Jean Stenberg, Thief River Falls, MN; sister-in-law: Jeanette Bucholz, Grand Forks, ND and brother-in-law: Harold Finney, Crookston, MN.

She is preceded in death by first husband, Clifford Rude; parents; sister, Lorraine Finney; brother, Harley Bucholz; niece, Eileen Kochevar; brother-in-law, Morris Stenberg; and great grandson, Grady Benitt.

Fay Ness died Tuesday, February 13, 2007 at Northwest Medical Center, Thief River Falls, MN at the age of 84 years, 5 months and 20 days. May her memory be blessed.
