Obituary

Florence (Flo Ann) Alice Bredeson was born on September 24, 1913 near Maddock, North Dakota to Ernest and Amanda (Hakanson) Norell. She attended rural school and graduated from the Benson County Aggie School before attending Moorhead State Teachers College. Flo Ann taught for five years in rural schools near Fessenden and Maddock, then returned to Moorhead State for further education. She was employed by the college as a supervisor of student teachers at Averill Elementary for three years. She moved to Thief River Falls in 1941 and taught primary and kindergarten grades at Washington School until her retirement in 1974.

On June 14, 1953, Flo Ann married Arthur Bredeson. They enjoyed a rich and full life together until his death in 1988. Their home was one of great hospitality, where many friends and family gathered for wonderful meals and fellowship. They owned a small farm where they shared their love of gardening. In 2001, Flo Ann moved to Valley Home in Thief River. She developed new friendships with residents and staff, always thankful for the wonderful care and love given to her there. Flo Ann expressed a great love for people. She took special interest in children who were so precious to her and remained interested in many childrens lives as they grew into adulthood.

Flo Ann was a member of Our Saviours Lutheran Church. Throughout the years, Flo Ann has been an integral part of the church. She helped organize and was president of the Womens Mission Society; directed youth and adult choirs; was a Sunday school teacher and superintendent; and an active member of Bible study groups. She made generous contributions to the development of Our Saviors Academy later known as Cornerstone Christian School and now St. Johns Lutheran School.

Flo Ann taught all who knew her to live victoriously in Christ. Her peace from within was felt by everyone. She was a daily witness to those around her. In her last years, her decreased eyesight did not deter her positive attitude. She lived as a remarkable example of encouragement, faith and love. Flo Ann had a deep commitment to her family. She took great interest in each one of us, giving us continual encouragement and strength. We will miss her warmth and tender loving care.
