Florence Miller, 96, died Wednesday, September 28, 2005 at Hillcrest Nursing Home, Red Lake Falls, MN.
Florence Bendel was born November 28, 1908 in Madison, MN, the daughter of John and Mary (Brown) Bendel. The family moved to Red Lake Falls, MN, where she attended St. Josephs School and graduated from Lafayette High School in 1927. Following a Teachers Training Program, she taught rural schools in Polk and Red Lake Counties. She also played the trumpet in the Red Lake Falls City band.
On June 6, 1932, Florence was united in marriage to Wallace Miller in St. Marys Catholic Church, Red Lake Falls. The couple made their home in this city, where Wallace was a barber until 1969 and Florence served as teachers aid in the elementary schools. In their retirement, the couple enjoyed traveling. Wallace passed away February 23, 2000.
Florence was a member of St. Josephs Catholic Church, the Catholic Order of Foresters, St. Anns Society, American Legion Auxiliary and Hillcrest Nursing Home Auxiliary.
Survived by daughter, Marilyn Miller, St. Paul, MN; son, James Miller, Red Lake Falls, MN; sister-in-law, Anne Bendel and several nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by parents, 6 brothers, Clarence, Joseph, Carl, Balsey, John and Leo; 4 sisters, Francis Constant, Mary Fitzgerald, Sabina Remick and Clara Bendel.
