Forrest Johnson, 88, died on Sunday, May 31, 2009 on his farm near Holt, MN.
Memorial services will be 2:00, Wednesday, June 10, 2009 at Nazareth Lutheran Church, Holt, MN with Rev. John Golv officiating. Burial will follow in Holt Cemetery, Holt, MN.
Visitation will be 6-8 PM at Johnson Funeral Service in Thief River Falls, MN with a Prayer Service at 7:00 PM on Tuesday, June 9, 2009.
Forrest Rueben Johnson was born on February 4, 1921 to Carl and Mabel (Christenson) Johnson on a farm in rural Holt, MN. He attended Pioneer Country School in rural Holt, MN through the 8th grade. He was baptized in the Lutheran Faith and later confirmed in the Evangelical Free Church in Holt, MN. After completing school, Forrest started farming with his Dad. He always lived at home with his Dad and helped out around the home place. He worked for area farmers for many years. He also helped the Horiens and the Skoglunds with carpentry work. They moved in 1951 to a farm east of Holt.
Forrest liked to keep his yard perfect. He was often seen on his lawnmower, mowing trails through his woods. He raised a large garden for many years and shared his produce with all of his friends and family. In his early years, Forrest enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was a 65 year member of the Eagles Club. He has been a lifelong member of Nazareth Lutheran Church in Holt. He enjoyed visiting and making friends at the casino. Forrest had a vivid memory who had a fond recollection of the family history.
Forrest is survived by four sisters: LaVerne Inman, Thief River Falls, MN, Marion Davidson, Holt, MN, Joyce Darragh, Puyallup, WA, Elaine (Leo) Lorentson, Gresham, OR, aunt Delores Dovre, Puyallup, WA, 12 nieces and nephews, and several great nieces and nephews, and special neighbor and friend Marc Horien.
Forrest was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Mabel, brother Merle Johnson, 1 nephew John Darragh, 2 brothers in law, Milton Davidson and Denny Inman.
