Franklin David Presnell, 74, died Tuesday, August 19th, 2008 at Veterans Medical Center, Minneapolis, MN.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 AM, Saturday August 23rd, 2008 at St. Josephs Catholic Church, Red Lake Falls, MN with Father John Kleinwatcher presiding. Burial will be at St. Josephs Cemetery, Red Lake Falls.
Visitation will be 5-8 PM, Friday August 22nd at St. Josephs Catholic Church, Red Lake Falls with a 7 PM prayer service and for one hour prior to the service at the church, Saturday.
Franklin Frank was born July 25th, 1934 at Middlesboro, KY, the son of Henderson Patton and Alice (Pate) Presnell. He was baptized at Hensley Baptist Church in Kentucky and confirmed at St. Michaels Catholic Church, Grand Forks, ND. He attended school at Middlesboro, KY and attained his GED thru the military. He entered the U.S. Marine Corps were he served during the Korean Conflict. He later joined the U.S. Army and served with the 1st Cavalry, 2nd Armored Division, were he served one tour in Panama, 3 tours in Vietnam, Germany, and was stationed at various military installations within the US. Frank retired from the Army on May 29th, 1979 as a Staff Sergeant, E-6. After retiring from the Army, Frank worked for Rochester Armored Car Company; he also worked as a salesperson at Sears, Peoples Market, and then worked as a security guard for K & S security at various locations around Grand Forks, ND.
On April 13th, 1970, Frank was united in marriage to Donna Hagl in Red Lake Falls, MN.
Frank was dedicated to the military and was a lifelong member of the VFW and the American Legion. Frank also enjoyed playing cards, guitar, reading, playing horse shoes, playing pool drinking coffee, calling KFGO radio, and playing in his own band. He was given the nicknames of Elvis and the Oldtimer . He loved to spend time with his family and friends. But his grandchildren were the most precious people to him.
Frank is survived by his wife, Donna Presnell, Red Lake Falls, MN; 3 children: David (Dawn) Presnell, Baltimore, Md., Thomas (Shannon) Presnell, Grand Forks, ND, Sheila (Dan) Rhoads, Grand Forks, ND; 8 grandchildren: David , Nathan, Matthew, Kaleb, Jacob, Morgan, Dylan, and Justin; 2 great-grandchildren: Nicholas and Andrew; a sister, Ethel Lewis, Monroe, MN; sister-in-law, Beverly Wander, Detroit Lakes, MN; brother-in-law, Larry Hagl, Red Lake Falls, MN; Patsy Lil Sis (Joe) Hagl, Red Lake Falls, MN; and several nieces and nephews.
Frank was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter, Georgia, 3 grandchildren: Baby Rhoads, Daniel Rhoads Jr., and Sean Rhoads, two sisters Verlie and Ada, and two brothers, Hubert and Bennett.
