Gail Rux, 87, of Thief River Falls, MN died on Tuesday, April 5, 2011 at Oakland Park Communities in Thief River Falls, MN.
A Memorial Service for Gail will be held at 10:30 AM on Monday, April 11, 2011 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Thief River Falls, MN with Rev. John Voelker officiating. Burial will follow at Holt Cemetery, Holt, MN.
Visitation will be held from 2:00 PM until 5:00 PM with a 4:30 PM prayer service on Sunday, April 10, 2011 at Johnson Funeral Service, Thief River Falls, MN. Visitation will also be held from 9:30 AM until 10:30 AM on Monday at the church.
Gail W. Rux was born on November 15, 1923 in Northwood, ND, the son of William and Amy (Kulseth) Rux. He was baptized and confirmed into the Lutheran faith and attended school in Rural Holt, MN.
Gail entered into service with the United States Army in 1942, was Honorably Discharged in 1946, then returned to the Holt area.
On March 7, 1947 Gail was united in marriage to Lillian Johnson at First Lutheran Church in Thief River Falls. To this union two terrific sons were born, Allen and Gary.
After his Military career, Gail worked several years with Forsbergs and as the Service Manager for Tunbergs. Gail was a hard-working man, as he also farmed. When Gail retired from farming, he and Lillian continued to live on their farm and started the Rux Game Farm. The game farm included many animals like exotic birds, three different breeds of deer, and African Pygmy Goats. Gail enjoyed hosting several school field trips for children there.
Gail was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, and American Legion Post #117. He enjoyed spending time with his family, and will be remembered for his special dogs which he adored.
Survivors include his wife, Lillian of Thief River Falls, MN; son, Gary (Shirley) Rux of Thief River Falls, MN; grandchildren, Taryn Hejlik (Matt Dehne) of Thief River Falls, MN, TJ Rux of Thief River Falls, MN; great-grandchildren, Aron and Gannon Hejlik; sister, Ardelle Stanina of Minneapolis, MN; brother, Glen (June) Rux of Vancouver, WA; and many cousins, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Preceding Gail in death are his son, Allen; his parents; sister, Joyce Dale and brothers, Duane Rux and Alden Rux.
