Gary A. Johnson, 69, died Thursday, December 8, 2005 at Northwest Medical Center, Thief River Falls, MN.
Gary Arlen Johnson was born November 2, 1936 at Dalen, ND, the son of Andrew and Lucille (Hagness) Johnson. He was confirmed in the Evangelical Free Church, Thief River Falls, MN. He attended school in Thief River Falls and served in the National Guard from 1952-1964.
On June 8, 1968, Gary was united in marriage to Shelva Davis at Karlstad, MN. He was employed with Bills Milage and Texaco, as mechanic and attendant and at Midland Co-op for many years as manager. He became owner/manager of Garys Army/Navy Store in Thief River Falls. In 1993, Gary started Dairy Delivery which he has owned and operated since.
Gary held membership in Lake Agassiz Car Club, Coin and Stamp Club and Thief River Falls American Legion. He enjoyed coin collecting, wood-work, stamp collecting, and restoring antique cars. He was the first United States citizen to receive the Canadian Traveling Trophy for an antique car. He liked Twins baseball as well as traveling to Las Vegas for trade shows. He was a Scout Leader for many years in Thief River Falls. Family was very important to Gray.
Gary is survived by wife, Shelva, Thief River Falls, MN; daughter, Kendra (Mike) Hutton, Manvel, ND; son, Brent (Brenda) Johnson, Thief River Falls, MN; grandchildren, Kole, Brody, Brooke, Breiana, Morgan, Baylie and Britlyn; brothers, Sherman (Mona) Johnson, Thief River Falls, MN and Dudley Johnson, Thief River Falls, MN; sister-in-law, Esther Johnson, Thief River Falls, MN and many nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by parents, sister, Linda Brown, brothers, Glenn and Richard and brother-in-law, Duane Brown.
