Gary LaCoursiere, 73 of Brooks, MN passed away peacefully and unexpectedly on Sunday, August 27, 2023 at his residence.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM with a 7:00 PM Prayer Service on Thursday, August 31, 2023 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Brooks, MN.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, September 1, 2023 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Brooks, MN with Father Bob Schreiner presiding. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. A time of lunch and fellowship will follow the service. Burial will be at St. Vincent de Paul Cemetery in Plummer, MN.
Gary Dale LaCoursiere was born March 8, 1950 in Thief River Falls, MN the son of Hector and Alice (Lambert) LaCoursiere. He was raised in Oklee, MN and graduated from Oklee High School – class of 1968. He then attended one year of school at Thief River Falls Technical College.
On June 9, 1979, Gary was united in marriage to Susan Willett at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Plummer, MN. The first two years, the couple resided in Oklee and then they purchased a home in the country by Brooks, MN where they have lived ever since. They raised one daughter, Lori and one son, Lucas.
Gary worked for several small mechanic shops as a diesel mechanic, until he went to work for Ziegler Caterpillar in Crookston, MN and retired at the age of 62 after 25 years.
Gary loved the outdoors. Whether fishing (summer & winter), deer hunting, 4-wheeling, gardening, and working in his shop or garage on his many projects. He also loved to talk to everyone and had many stories to tell.
Survivors include his wife, Sue of Brooks; daughter, Lori (Mike Livingood) of Grand Forks, ND; son, Lucas of Oklee; grandchildren, Mikaila, Olivia, Liam and Harmony; sister-in-law, Alice LaCoursiere of Bemidji, MN; brothers and sisters-in-law, Joyce (Carl) Magers, Elizabeth Hamilton, Arnie Willett, Tom (Bec) Willett, Danny Willett, Doug Willett, and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his father and mother, Hector and Alice LaCoursiere; sister, Delia (Leo)Nistler; brothers, Leonard (Helen) and Merle LaCoursiere; father and mother-in-law, Joseph and Teckla Willett; brother-in-law, Jim (Judy) Willett.
