Gary Steuck, of Grygla, MN passed away peacefully following a battle with cancer on Tuesday, May 4, 2021 at his residence surrounded by his loving family.
Memorial service will be held 4:00 PM on Saturday, May 22, 2021 at Johnson Funeral Service in Thief River Falls, MN with Reverend Kristan Ostercamp Officiating. Gary will be buried at a later date at Nebish Community Cemetery. Military honors will be held following the service. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
Gary Edward Steuck was born April 23, 1950 at Pipestone, MN son of Irving and Sylvia (Nelson) Steuck. He attended school and graduated from Howard Lake School in Howard Lake, MN. He entered the US Army and served 6 ½ years during the Vietnam Era. Following his honorable discharge, he was united in marriage to Rose Dietz, to this union three children were born Kari, Sheri and Terry. He moved to Annandale, MN where the children were raised.
He moved to Fourtown, MN in 1993 where he met and married Carol Smith in 2009 to this union four stepchildren were added Joanna, Angela, Brian and Nina. Gary worked for Machinewell in Grygla for 18 ½ years retiring in 2013.
Gary enjoyed living in Fourtown, hunting, fishing and just being out in the woods. He also enjoyed cooking and caring for friends and family. He was a member of Our Saviors and Grace Lutheran Church in Grygla.
Gary is survived by his wife Carol of Grygla, MN; children Kari Steuck of Annandale, MN, Sheri (Brian DeSmet) Hoopman of St. Cloud, MN, and Terry (Angel) Steuck of Watkins, MN; step-children Angela Ness of Cold Spring, MN, Brian (Jessika) Smith of Devlin, Ontario, Canada, Nina (Jeff Broadwell) Smith of Fosston, MN; grandchildren Cortney, Trent, Christopher Hoopman, Hannah and Haley Steuck; step-grandchildren Brittany (Josue) Gomes, Chelsie Smith, Alexis (Chad) Peterson, Anthony Smith, Kaci, Hannah, Nathan and Aaron Ness, Miles and Kenedi Broadwell; great-grandchildren Paislee, Axle and McKenzie Peterson; siblings Linda (Virgil) Mahlstedt, Anita (Dennis) Johnson, Kathy (Dennis) Brockberg, and Patricia Nesvold; along with many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, and grandparents; stepdaughter Joanna Smith, nephews Ryan Brockberg and Mark Mahlstedt; step-son-in-law Mark Ness.
In lieu of flowers memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society.
