Genevieve Marie Gen Mercil, 76, of Thermopolis, WY, formerly of Brooks, MN, died on Monday, October 8, 2001 at the Home of her son Dean Mercil in Thermopolis, WY following an intense short illness.

Mass of Christian burial will be held on Friday, October 12, 2001 at 10:30 AM in St. Joseph Catholic Church in Brooks, MN with Father Tim Bushy Officiating. Burial will be held in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Brooks, MN.

Visitation will be held on Thursday 5 " 8 PM with a 7:00 Rosary service at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Brooks and also one hour prior to services at the church on Friday.

Genevieve Bourgeois was born May 28, 1925 daughter of the late Harvey and Hatti (Champagne) Bourgeois in Brooks, MN. She was united in marriage to Donald Mercil in Brooks, MN on August 3, 1943.
The mother of 11 children, she was a housewife first. When the family moved to Drayton, ND in 1964 she was a cook at Andys, then was employed at the Grafton State School in Grafton, ND. The family moved to Thermopolis in 1981 when Gen worked along side her husband in the Construction business. Mr. and Mrs. Mercil retired in 1999 and spent time traveling.

She was a member of St. Francis Catholic Church in Thermopolis. She enjoyed crafts, yard work and flower gardening.

She is survived by her husband Don Mercil of Thermopolis, WY; sons Gary Mercil (Susie) of Townsend, WI; LeRoy Mercil (Mary) of Brooks, MN; Allen Mercil of Grand Forks, ND; Dean Mercil (Diane) of Thermopolis, WY and Kenneth Mercil (Audrey) of Grafton, ND: daughters Marlene Hince of Rock Springs, WY; Sharon Paschke (Chester) of Grand Forks, ND; Betty Staskivige (Dean) of Drayton, ND; Karen Halcrow (Bob) of Drayton, ND, Diane Hibdon of Casper, WY and Deborah Huebner (Stan of Thompson, ND. Brother, Donald Bourgeois of So. Milwaukee, WI: Sisters Beatrice Gilger of Bonita Springs, FL; Delores Boucher of So. Milwaukee, WI; Carol Odegard of Franklin, WI; Kathleen Warrick of So. Milwaukee, WI and Eileen Lemaire of Dunchurch, Ontario, Canada. 34 grandchildren, 8 step grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, 3 step great-grandchildren, 1 step great-great grandchild.

She is preceded in death by her parents, and one brother Darrel Bourgeois.
