George Panek, 84, died on Monday, July 25, 2005 at Northwest Medical Center, Thief River Falls, MN.

Funeral service will be at 10:30 A.M. on Friday, July 29, 2005 at Faith Lutheran Church in Goodridge, MN with Reverend Robert Dahlen officiating. Burial will be at Germantown Cemetery, Grand Plain Township, Marshall County, MN.

Visitation will be from 4:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. on Thursday, July 28, 2005 at Faith Lutheran Church in Goodridge, MN with a 7:00 P.M. prayer service and at the church for one hour prior to service on Friday.

George Stanley Panek was born on August 12, 1920 in Silverton Township, Pennington County to Stanley and Frances Kathleen (Kolski) Panek. He attended the Stoney Range Country School until the 8th Grade. After completing school he farmed with his Dad. George entered the Army in 1942 serving during WW II. He was stationed in Africa and Italy, where he was a wire communications worker. He was honorably discharged in 1945. George returned to farm with his dad. He was united in marriage to Patricia Allen Nelson on September 21, 1952 at Telemarken Lutheran Church and moved to Grand Plain Township, Marshall County. George farmed many different things including goats, horses, sheep, grains, chickens, milk cows, beef cows, ducks, rabbits, pigs and one coon named Tuffy. They farmed three quarters of land for many years. George retired from farming in 1977 and then began working for many different neighbors helping on their farms. He also worked for the ASCS office checking land that was in the soil bank.

George was active in many different organizations including, the Silverton Township Board, Grand Plain Township Board, Marshall County Commission, Faith Lutheran Church Council, Cenex Coop Board. He also liked to deer hunt. He was a member of the American Legion Post #117.

George is survived by his wife Patricia, Goodridge, MN; six children: Larry (Laurie), Thief River Falls, MN; David (Mylisa), Charlotte, TN; Debbi (Harry) Farris, Goodridge, MN; Tim (Tawnya), Newfolden, MN; Mark, Thief River Falls, MN; Darren, Thief River Falls, MN; grandchildren: Charlie (Sara) Panek, Jeffrey, Aaron and Adam Panek, Cody Myatt, Dwayne (Laura) Farris, Joe (Jeana) Farris, Ryan (Missy) Farris, Sean Farris, Kristin Farris, Amber Morkrid, Ashley Morkrid, Tyson, Brittani and Blair Panek, great grandchildren: Preston Panek, Rebecca, Connor and Haley Farris, 4 brothers: Henry (Marjorie), Goodridge, MN; Norman (Evelyn), Surprise, AZ; Robert (Doris), Apache Junction, AZ; Stanley (Arlene), Goodridge, MN; 1 sister Delores (Henry) Bendickson, Goodridge, MN.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother and sister-in-law, Walter and Sharon Panek; and one great granddaughter Madyson Panek
