George E. Parker, 68, died on Monday, May 8, 2006 at Riverview Hospital, Crookston.
Funeral service will be at 2:00 P.M. on Friday, May 12, 2006 at Johnson Funeral Service in Red Lake Falls, MN with Reverend Gary Graff officiating. Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery, Red Lake Falls, MN.
Visitation will be one hour prior to service on Friday at the Funeral Home.
George Elton Parker was born on October 22, 1937 in Elm City, North Carolina, the son of James G. and Elsie (Bass) Parker. He attended school in Elm City, NC, graduating from Elm City High School in 1956.
George entered the United States Air Force after graduation and was stationed at the Grand Forks Air Base. George was united in marriage to Marlys McEnelly on March 6. 1960 at Eklund Lutheran Church in Goodridge, MN. Following his Honorable Discharge the couple lived in North Carolina a few years before returning to Minnesota, moving to Red Lake Falls in 1965. He worked at Detroiter Mobile Home until his retirement on April 23, 1997.
George enjoyed golfing, trap shooting, fishing and camping. He was president of Oak Knolls Golf Course for a time and was an active member of the American Legion in Red Lake Falls, where he had also served as Commander from 1990 to 1991.
George is survived by his wife, Marlys of Red Lake Falls, MN; two daughters: Deb (Tom) Derouin of Red Lake Falls, MN and Karen (Jon) Huhn of Hudson, WI; two grandchildren: Connor and Garrett; one brother, William (Ruth) Parker of Frederica, Delaware; two aunts: Effie Lee Boykin and Blanche Worrell, both of North Carolina; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and one brother, James O. Parker
