George Soiney, Jr. was born on February 13, 1915 in Holt, MN, the son of George Sr. and Josephine (Hagen) Soiney. He was baptized and confirmed into the Lutheran faith and attended rural school, east of Holt.
George was united in marriage to Ardith Hartman on December 30, 1956 at Bethany Lutheran Church in Red Lake Falls. The couple made their home in Thief River Falls. Throughout the years George worked road construction. He built many roads in North Dakota and Minnesota. In the mid-1930s George hauled wood to Thief River Falls with horses and used the money to buy a 1929 Model A.
He enjoyed deer hunting, snowmobiling, fishing, spending time with his German Shepherd, Honey and his cat, Rusty. George loved spending time with his family, working on the farm, going to auction sales, working in the garden, cutting wood, fixing different things and traveling to different places.
George is survived by his wife, Ardith of Thief River Falls, MN; two children: Ross Soiney of Warroad, MN and Ronald Soiney of Thief River Falls, MN; and two grandchildren: Nick and Ryan.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Wesley in 1990; sisters: Effie, Clara, Myrt, Esther and Alma; and brothers: Nate, Walter, Joe and Ray.
