Georgianna Benoit, 95, of Red Lake Falls, MN died on Saturday, May 19, 2001 at Hillcrest Nursing Home in Red Lake Falls, MN. Arrangements with Johnson Funeral Home in Red Lake Falls, MN.

Mass of Christian burial will be held on Tuesday, May 22, 2001 at 1:30 PM in St. Joseph Catholic Church in Red Lake Falls, MN with Father Tim Bushy Officiating. Burial will be held in the Calvary Cemetery in Crookston, MN.

Visitation will be held on Monday, from 5- 8 PM with a 5:30 Rosary and 7:00 prayer service at Johnson Funeral Service in Red Lake Falls and also one hour prior to services at the church on Tuesday.

Georgianna Lefaivre was born July 6, 1905 daughter of the late Octave and Emma (Bisson) Lefaivre at Terrebonne, MN. She was raised in Gervais Township in Red Lake County and attended rural school. On July 6, 1932 she was united in marriage to Maurice Benoit at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Red Lake Falls, MN. The couple purchased land in Louisville Township where they built their home and barn and actively farmed until 1980. Georgianna resided there until November of 2000 when she moved to the Sunview Center in Red Lake Falls and since February of 2001 has resided at Hillcrest Nursing Home in Red Lake Falls. Maurice passed away September 28, 1988.
Georgianna was a member of the St. Dorothy Catholic Church and Guild, a member of the AFRAN, enjoyed quilting and gardening and raised African Violets in her home.
She is survived by her sons Clement (Mary Ann) Benoit of Red Lake Falls, MN; Virgil (Sherry ODonnell) Benoit of Red Lake Falls, MN: 9 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren. Son-in-law Jim Thompson of Kenosha, WI and several nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her husband Maurice Benoit; daughter Elizabeth Thompson; infant son Donald Benoit; grandson Edward Benoit; parents Octave and Emma Lefaivre. Brothers and sisters Lucy Lefaivre, Sr. Leaha Lefaivre, Paul Lefaivre, Louis Lefaivre and George Lefaivre.
