Obituary

Gerald Jerry Dougherty, 57, died unexpectedly, Monday, December 3, 2007 at Tacoma, WA.

Funeral service will be 2 PM, Monday, December 10, 2007 at Johnson Funeral Service, Thief River Falls, MN with Reverend Robert Dahlen officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to service on Monday. Burial will be at Greenwood Cemetery in Thief River Falls, Minnesota.

Gerald Jerry Wayne Dougherty was born February 18, 1950 at Thief River Falls, MN, the son of Ray and Theresa (Amiot) Dougherty. He was baptized at St. Clement Catholic Church, Grygla, MN. He attended school and graduated from Lincoln Senior High School, Thief River Falls, in 1968.

Jerry met the love of his life, Jan Harshaw, in 1972 and were together for the last 35 years.

While living in Thief River Falls Jerry was one of the owner/ operators of Du-Rite Construction Company. While living in Sturgis, SD and Huntley, MT he continued to be a self-employed carpenter specializing in the detailed finishing work. He was currently employed by Elite Remodeling in Tacoma as a construction crew foreman.
Jerry loved spending time with his grandchildren, making others laugh, sharing stories, motorcycles, the work he did and the company he worked for, and the exotic birds and other animals that he and Jan shared their lives with.
Jerry always had time to listen and share, and will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

He is survived by wife, Jan, Roy, Washington; daughter, Rhonda (Mark) Daigneault, Spanaway, WA; 3 grandchildren, Tyler, Noah and Ryan; mother, Theresa Dougherty; brothers, Richard (Paulette) Dougherty and Alan Dougherty all of Thief River Falls, MN; sisters, Marie Sandsmark, Ann (Nick) Juhl, and Lu (Steve) Olson all of Thief, River Falls, MN; sisters-in-law, Diane Hanson and Kelly (John) Nelson and father-in-law, Robert Rugland; 15 nieces and nephews; 7 great nieces and nephews

Jerry is preceded in death by father, Ray Dougherty, mother-in-law, Gloria Rugland and all grandparents.
