Obituary

Gerald Jerry Johnson, 68, died Saturday, January 22, 2004 at Oakland Park Nursing Home, Thief River Falls, MN.

Gerald Henry Johnson was born March 8, 1936 on the family farm at Viking, MN, the son of Harold and Edith (Lian) Johnson. He was baptized and confirmed at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Newfolden, MN. He grew up and attended school, graduating in 1955 from Newfolden High School.

On December 15, 1956, Jerry was united in marriage to Marcy Leiran in Newfolden by Reverend Myhrer. The couple made their home in Thief River Falls. Jerry worked at Clark Station, Mobile Gas Station and Bridgemans. Jerry and Marcy owned and operated the Mobil Bulk Plant, which they ran for 4 years. They then went to Midland Co-op and then to Tireland. Jerry retired in 1981 due to declining health.

Jerry held membership in the Eagles Club, Thief River Falls. He enjoyed hunting, wood carving, leather work, 4-wheeling with his boys and camping.

Survived by wife, Marcy, Thief River Falls, MN; 5 children, Danny (Lor), David (Shelly), Dwight (Shelly), Kevin (Sue) and Kent (Julie) Johnson all Thief River Falls, MN; 10 grandchildren, Patrick Johnson, Thomas Johnson, Krissy Johnson, Travis Johnson, Ryan Johnson, Dustin Johnson, Spencer Johnson, Anna Johnson, Jacob Johnson and Grady Johnson; 5 step grandchildren, Stephanie (Jeremy) Halland, Sara (Troy) Hoglo, Lee Tofstad, Loren Tofstad and Ryan Hoglo; 1 great grandchild, Adriana Johnson; 5 step great grandchildren, Marly Halland, Brady Tofstad, Katelynn Tofstad, Gavin Hoglo and Mara Halland; sister, Sylvia Johnson, Pine City, MN; brother, Alton (Kathy) Johnson, Hamilton, MT; half sister, Shelly (Pete) Mai, Littlefork, MN and half brother, George Lindbeck Jr., California.

Preceded in death by great granddaughter, Kali Johnson, parents, sisters, Sidney and Judy Johnson, half sister, Joy Lindbeck and step father, George Lindbeck.
