Obituary

Gerald "Jerry" Seyller, 71, of Trail, MN passed away suddenly on Saturday, November 4, 2023 at Essentia Health in Fosston, MN with his loving family by his side.

The funeral to honor Jerry will be held at 10:00 AM on Monday, November 13, 2023 at Oak Park Lutheran Church, rural Oklee, MN with visitation one hour prior to the service. Rev. Jeffrey Merseth will officiate. Visitation will be held from 3:00 PM until 5:00 PM with a 4:00 PM time of Special Music and Memories and a 4:30 PM Prayer Service on Sunday, November 12, 2023 at Johnson Funeral Service in Thief River Falls, MN.

Gerald Philip Seyller was born the youngest of three children on December 8, 1951 to Herman Philip and Mary Phyllis (Reinking) Seyller in Elgin, IL. He attended catholic elementary school and Burlington Central High School, Burlington, IL.

He was united in marriage to Phyllis and to this union two children were born, Carrie and Joshua.

Jerry moved to Gully, MN where he worked as a farm hand on Gully Farms. In 1978, Jerry met the love of his life, Judy Rae Flateland and they married on November 17, 1979 at the parsonage in Gully, MN. They made their home in Trail, MN where they raised their eight children, Rachel, Lee, Knute, Amanda, Sam, Phillip, Albert, and Katie.

In addition to Gully Farms, Jerry worked various jobs including Bjerke Sod Farm.

At the age of 38, Jerry attended Wadena Tech for Cable TV. He got a job at Wells, MN for Triax Cable Vision where he lived for a few years.

Jerry returned to Trail, MN where he worked for KC Construction, Northern Pipeline and Charps. Currently, he was working seasonally at Peatland Reds and was mowing for the city of Trail.

Jerry enjoyed reading, woodworking, old Western's, riding his motorcycle and he loved that his boys all rode motorcycles and enjoyed a good cup of coffee. He loved spending time with his wife, children, and grandchildren. He was a good grandpa, spending time looking after Edward, Abby, Loretta, Jasper, Nevaeh, and Nalilah "Tyson". For many years, Jerry and Judy have mowed and maintained the Mt. Olive Church and Mt. Olive Cemetery grounds.

Jerry was a member of the Local 563 Union.

Survivors include his loving wife, Judy of Trail, MN; children, Carrie Bandemer and Joshua Seyller both of Janesville, WI, Rachel  (Wayne) Mondt of Clearbrook, MN, Lee (Jessica) Seyller of Goodridge, MN, Knute Seyller living on the road, Amanda (Michael) Nybo of Gonvick, MN, Sam (Sabrina) Seyller of Leonard, MN, Phillip Seyller and Albert Seyller both of Trail, MN, Katie Seyller of Oklee, MN; grandchildren, Gaje, Chantelle, Anna-Lise, Dayron, Catharyn, Hannah, Wyett, Emma, Abby, Loretta, Harleigh, Preston, Joseph, Emma Mae, Edward, Sterling, Saul, Isabella, Ellie, Aubrey, Carter, Jasper; great-grandchildren, Nevaeh, and Nalilah "Tyson"; sister, Joanne "Jo" Schramer; brother, James "Jim" (Deb) Seyller; nieces and nephews, Bryan (Robyn) Schramer, Renee (Daniel) Laslie, Derek Schramer, Keith (Lisa) Seyller, Nicholas Seyller; mother-in-law, Sylvia Flateland; brothers & sisters-in-law, Joyce Sather, Gordon Flateland, Ginger Flateland, Janet (Neil) Mueller, Wesley (Lynn) Flateland, Roxann (Roger) Coan; and many other relatives and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Herman Philip and Mary Phyllis (Reinking) Seyller; great-grandson, Henry; father-in-law, Howard Flateland; brothers-in-law, Leonard Schramer, Larry Sather, Marvel Flateland, Howard "Rocky" Flateland.
