Geri Benitt, 73, of Holt, MN, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 22, 2024 at her home.

Memorial service will be held at 1:00 PM on Friday, May 31, 2024 at Nazareth Lutheran Church in Holt, MN, with Rev. Sheila Michaels officiating.

Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church.

Geraldine "Geri" Ann Johnson was born on April 14, 1951, in Greenbush, MN, to Norman and Sophie (Woinarowicz) Johnson.  She was baptized and confirmed at St. Edward's Catholic Church in Strandquist, MN.  Geri graduated from Karlstad High School in 1969, then attended Cosmetology School in Thief River Falls.

In April of 1970 Geri starting dating Bruce Benitt.  On June 3, 1972 Geri was united in marriage to Bruce at Nazareth Lutheran Church in Holt.  She briefly worked in cosmetology until going to work at Arctic Cat, followed by working/managing the Wagon Wheel in Middle River, MN, for 34 years where she created lasting friendships and played many hands of smear.

Geri enjoyed spending time with her family – eating, telling stories, time at the race track, and fishing.  She also enjoyed gardening, taking care of her yard, reading, and being her own handywoman.

Geri is survived by her son Brian (Michelle), Thief River Falls, daughter, Kim (Matt) Scholin, Holt; grandchildren, Megan Benitt (Chris Onstad), McKenna Scholin (Dylan Finstad), Eryn Benitt, Mason Scholin, and Keegan Benitt; mother-in-law, Aileen Benitt, Holt; Siblings- Wyman (Linda) Johnson, Hastings, MN, Judy (Denny) Mager, Grand Rapids, MN, Gary (Paula) Johnson, Karlstad, MN, Brad (Sherry) Johnson, Karlstad, MN; in-laws, Val Melin, Ada, MN; Kent Benitt, Holt; many nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Bruce; grandson, Grady Jon Benitt; father and mother, Norman and Sophie Johnson; father-in-law, Orvus Benitt; brother, Myron Johnson, and brother-in-law, Tom Melin.
