Gertrude Grace "Gertie" Douglas of Newfolden, MN age 81 died on Friday, April 10, 2015 at Sanford Hospital Palliative Care in Fargo, ND with her loving family at her side. Funeral service will be held at 10:30 AM on Thursday, April 16, 2015 at Evangelical Free Church, Newfolden, MN with Rev. Gary Barrett officiating. Burial will be at Oak Grove Cemetery, Newfolden, MN. Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM with a 7:00 PM prayer service on Wednesday, April 15, 2015 at Johnson Funeral Service, Thief River Falls, MN. Visitation will also be held for one hour prior to the funeral at the church. Gertrude Grace TenBos was born June 1, 1933 at home on the family farm near Gary, MN the daughter of Ray and Lucille (Botts) TenBos. She was baptized and confirmed into the Christian faith. She attended country school for several years and also attended school in Gary, MN. On April 14, 1948 Gertrude was united in marriage to Charles Wilcox at Rock Rapids, IA. They made their home on a farm near Gary, MN and to this union six children were born, Charles "David", Peggy, Patty, Jamie, Julie and Tami. In 1950 they moved to Thief River Falls, MN where Charles went to work at the city dairy and Gertrude stayed home to raise their children. After a few years, Gertrude went to work at the Dynamite Restaurant. In 1964 the family moved to Newfolden, MN and purchased the H & E Café which they owned and operated for four years. In 1968 she went to work at Arctic Cat and spent the next 14 years there. While working at Arctic Cat, Gertrude met Marcel Douglas and the couple married March 11, 1977 at the Evangelical Free Church, Newfolden, MN, and made their home in Newfolden. Gertrude then went to work in the kitchen at Oakland Park Nursing Home and retired after 13 years, at the age of 65. Over the years, Gertrude and Marcel enjoyed trips to Alaska, California, Hawaii and Texas. She was a member of Evangelical Free Church, Newfolden. Survivors include her loving husband, Marcel, Newfolden, MN; children, Peggy (Vernon) Gunderson, Newfolden, MN, Patty (Jerome) Nelson, Newfolden, MN, Jamie (Michael) Distel, Viking, MN, Julie (Corey) Skjerven, Thief River Falls, MN, and Tami Wilcox, Newfolden, MN; 5 step-children, Gary (Jean) Douglas, Sandra (Dwaine) Rud, Michael (Cheri) Douglas, Karen (Rob) Obermann, Jon Douglas; 14 grandchildren, Shannon, Mya, Steven, Jill, Micah, Jacob, Courtney, Casey, Justin, Melissa, Nicholas, David, Charel, and Cole; 26 great-grandchildren, Cassie, Jaylon, Emeila, Tayton, Gunner, Gannon, Thomas, Maverick, Avery, Davis, Trey, Storm, Sunny, Shylo, Shadi, Coby, Cooper, Chloe, Harper, Jordyn, Skyanna, Bridger, Aniyah, Westin, Brooklynn, Bayzleigh; 12 step-grandchildren; 15 step-great grandchildren; nieces & nephew, LaRae, Randy and Brenda; and many friends. She is preceded in death by her son, David in 2000; granddaughter, Kari Gunderson; parents, Ray and Lucille (Botts) TenBos; sister, Betty Moen; and brother-in-law, Lowell.
