Gertrude Lewis, 92, of Goodridge, MN died Wednesday, June 4, 2008 at MeritCare Northwest Campus, Thief River Falls, MN.

Funeral service will be 11 AM, Monday, June 9, 2008 at Ekelund Lutheran Church, rural Goodridge, MN with Reverend Robert Dahlen officiating. Burial will be at Ekelund Lutheran Cemetery, rural Goodridge, MN.

Visitation will be 5 - 8 PM, Sunday, June 8, 2008 at Johnson Funeral Service, Thief River Falls with a 7 PM prayer service and for one hour prior to the service at the church, Monday.

Gertrude Delores Olson was born in Numedahl Township, December 20, 1915 to Olaf and Marit (Waslie) Olson, immigrants from Bergin, Norway. She was baptized and confirmed into the Lutheran faith. Gertrude attended Roosevelt #147 country school west of Thief River Falls in Numedahl Township, where she also grew to adulthood. Gertrude resided and farmed with her husband in Hickory Township. After the death of Preston, Gertrude split her time between her farm and her residence at Gunderson Court in Thief River Falls, MN.

On July 28, 1937, Gertrude was united in marriage to Preston Lewis in Thief River Falls, MN, residing in Hickory Township and raising 3 children.

She is survived by children: Verna (Harold) Thompson, Thief River Falls, MN, Gaylene (Edward) Schmitz, Excelsior, MN and Thomas Lewis, Goodridge, MN; 8 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Gertrude was preceded in death by husband, Preston; an infant daughter, Darlene; an infant son; her twin sister, Bertha Davidson; sisters: Minnie Kulseth, Clara Martinson, Martha Olson, Nora Olson and half sister Anna Peterson; brothers: Oscar, Harry, Bennie and Joseph.
