Gladys Anderson, 88, died on Sunday, August 8, 2010 at Oakland Park Nursing Home in Thief River Falls, MN surrounded by her loving family.

Funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, August 14, 2010 at Our Saviours Lutheran Church in Thief River Falls, MN with Rev. Greg Schram officiating. Burial will follow at Holt Cemetery in Holt, MN.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM with an 8:00 PM prayer service on Friday, August 13, 2010 at Johnson Funeral Service in Thief River Falls, MN.

Gladys Ardith Nelson was born October 9, 1921 at Mud Lake, Marshall County, MN, the daughter of Knute and Karen (Ellingson) Nelson. She was baptized and confirmed (1936) at Nazareth Lutheran Church in Holt, MN. She grew up and attended school in Holt, MN and graduated from Lincoln High School in Thief River Falls, MN, in 1939. During World War II, she worked in defense plants while living in Texas and California. Gladys then returned to Thief River Falls.

On November 25, 1945, Gladys was united in marriage to LeRoy Reierson at Thief River Falls, MN. The couple lived on a farm near Thief River Falls and to this union five children were born, Loris, Judy, Garret, Douglas and Debra. LeRoy died July 27, 1957. On November 1, 1959, Gladys married Wallace Anderson, and to this union a daughter, Cynthia was born. In later years she enjoyed working with her sister, Olga, at Garys Rainbow Bakery.

Gladys was a member of Nazareth Lutheran Church, Rindal Lutheran Church and is currently a member of Our Saviours Lutheran Church. She was active in her childrens and grandchildrens lives. Gladys loved the farming lifestyle and was very active in it; she was instrumental in making the farm work. She was a 4-H leader, Sunday school teacher, was a member of the Sewing Circle at Rindal; WMF at Our Saviours; VFW Auxiliary; she was also instrumental in teaching people lefse making. Gladys hobbies include gardening, quilting and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Survivors include children, Loris Reierson, Judy (Dave) Weleski, Garret (Mary) Reierson all of Thief River Falls, Doug (Deb) Reierson, Grand Forks, ND, and Debra (Pete) Carlson Thief River Falls, MN and Cindy (Jeff) Roadfeldt, Salol, MN; 15 grandchildren, Lorie (Jaeden) Pederson, Jaki (Jason) Ortmeier, Darin (Jennifer) Weleski, Robb (Beth) Reierson, Lisa (Jonathon) Hams, Douglas Reierson, Jarod Reierson, Anna (Dustin) Stewart, Gabriel Carlson, Adam Solberg, Alexander Carlson, Kayla Reierson, Amanda Reierson, Benjamin Carlson, Isaac Carlson; great grandchildren, Aaron, Sophia, Isabel, Jordan, Jacob, Luke, Micah, Jaxon, Knute, Tyler, Eva, Mason, and Kalliann; sisters, Clara Reierson of Holt, MN and Olga Gilbertson of Thief River Falls, MN; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by husbands; parents; sisters, Anna Nelson and Emma Moberg; and brothers, Edward and Johnnie.
