Obituary

Gladys Johnson, 86, died Thursday, May 19, 2005 at Villa St. Vincent Nursing Home, Crookston, MN.

Gladys Jeanette Langaas was born June 17, 1918 at Emerado, ND, the daughter of George and Amanda (Brateng) Langaas. She was baptized on September 22, 1918 in Emerado, ND. At the age of 2, Gladys and family moved to Forest River, ND. Later they moved to Thief River Falls, where the family lived in Norden and Numedal Townships. Gladys was confirmed at Oak Ridge Church, Thief River Falls, MN.

On June 17, 1938, (Gladys birthday), she was united in marriage to Norval John Johnson in St. Hilaire, MN. The couple made their home in Numedahl Township. Gladys was a farm wife helping with all of the farming chores and home maker raising three daughters. She worked hard all her life. In the late 1970s, the couple moved into Thief River Falls on Arnold Ave. They then moved to Skylite where they resided for 20 years. Her husband Norval died March 3, 1993. Gladys was a resident of Villa St. Vincent Nursing Home, Crookston for the past 4 years.

Gladys loved her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She enjoyed their visits. She was a member of the Homemakers Club. She enjoyed gardening, canning, embroidery work such as pillows, dishtowels, scarves, and activities at Oak Ridge Church.

Survived by 3 children, Janice (James) Kelly, Crookston, MN, Donna (fianc, Don Harbott) Senum, Thief River Falls, MN and Norma Jean (Hubert, Jr.) Garceau, Grand Forks, ND; 9 grandchildren, Darin (Lynnette) Kelly, Tracey (Jeff) Sundeen, Kory Kelly, Brian (Marni) Kelly, all Crookston, MN, Kevin (Julie) Senum, Roseau, MN, Darcie Johnson, Thief River Falls, MN, Karla (Mitch) McEvers, Lignite, ND, Craig (Tonya) Hahn, Fort Sill, OK and Kyle Nelson, Grand Forks, ND; great grandchildren, Dustin, Brady, Jade, Casey, Travis, Talen, Brandon, Justin, Kelsy, Mallorie, Brianna and Lexi; step great grandchildren, Jenny, Terri and Matthew; brother, Raymond (Edna) Langaas, Kennewick, WA; sister-in-law, Mavis Langaas, Thief River Falls, MN, other relatives and friends.

Preceded in death by husband, parents, sister, Ardell, brothers, Carl, Clarence and Harold, son-in-law, Edwin Senum and brother-in-law, Arnold LaValley.
