Obituary

Gladys Offerdahl, 94, died on Monday, December 3, 2007 at Oakland Park Communities in Thief River Falls, MN.

Funeral service will be at 10:00 A.M. on Friday, December 7, 2007 at Zion Lutheran Church in Thief River Falls, MN with Reverend Ale Tulu officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Thief River Falls, MN.

Visitation will be from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. on Thursday, December 6, 2007 at Johnson Funeral Service in Thief River Falls, MN with a 7:00 P.M. Prayer Service on Thursday evening and also one hour prior to the service, at the church on Friday.

Gladys Bottem was born October 31, 1913 on the family farm in Holt Township near Holt, MN, the daughter of Oscar and Olga (Halverson) Bottem. She was baptized and confirmed into the Lutheran Faith in Holt, where she grew up and attended school. She helped cook on various farms throughout the area.

In 1935, Gladys was united in marriage to George Offerdahl at Holt, MN. The couple made their home in Holt Township where they farmed. In 1942, they moved into Thief River Falls, MN.

Gladys worked at the Fountain and Rex Caf. She then became employed at Arctic Cat, retiring in 1977.

She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, babysitting, playing Bingo and cards, especially Rummy.

Survivors include 5 children, Dorothy Hoganson, Del Ray (Jo Ann), Calvin, and Diane (John) Johnson all Thief River Falls, MN and Judy (Jerry) Juhl, CA; 14 grandchildren; 26 great grandchildren; 3 great-great grandchildren; 2 brothers, Morris (Mary), Minneapolis, MN and Larry (Darlene) Bottem, Thief River Falls, MN; a son-in-law, Charles Field, MA; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, George, daughter, Sharon, sisters, Ruth, Alice and Florence, brothers, Melvin, Clarence, Reuben, Leonard and Ernest; daughter-in-law, Ardelle; and son-in-law, Donald.
