Gladys Rosten, 86, died on Wednesday, April 4, 2012 at Pioneer Memorial Care Center in Erskine, MN. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM on Saturday, April 7, 2012 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Plummer, MN with Rev. Jonathan Dodson officiating. Burial will follow at Emardville Cemetery, Plummer, MN. Visitation will be held from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM with a 5:00 PM prayer service on Friday, April 6, 2012 at Johnson Funeral Service in Thief River Falls, MN. Gladys Marcella Giere was born on April 10, 1925 in Red Lake County, Minnesota the daughter of Oscar Nelson and Elsie (Brekke) Giere. She was baptized and confirmed into the Lutheran faith. Gladys attended school in Plummer and graduated from High School in 1943. On November 13, 1948 she was united in marriage to Paul Iver Rosten at Oklee, Minnesota. They made their home in rural Plummer where they continued to reside. Two children were born to this union, Byron and Trudy. Gladys enjoyed fishing in the Clearwater and Lost Rivers; and the companionship of her white German shepherd dog. Gladys enjoyed old time photos and the history that went with them. Gladys also enjoyed visiting with her uncle, Shorty Giere and driving around and taking the time to visit with other family and friends. Gladys was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Plummer. Survivors include her son, Byron (Sharon) Rosten of Plummer; daughter, Trudy (Leslie) Wilde of Thief River Falls; grandchildren, Jenny (Paul) Wilde L'Heureux of New Brighton, MN, Kevin Wilde of Thief River Falls, MN, LeAnn (Luca) Varuni of Atlanta, GA, Aaron (Peni) Rosten of Grand Forks, ND, Catherine (JJ) Johnson of Oklee, MN, Tracy (Jeffrey) Haack of Bemidji, MN; Great-grandchildren, Leo Wilde L'Heureux, Brady Rosten, Graham Rosten, Jennifer Johnson, Ethan Johnson, Matthew Haack and Emily Haack. She is preceded in death by her husband, Paul on May 15, 1987; and her parents.
