Glenden Hanson, 89, passed away on Saturday, September 19, 2009 at Pioneer Nursing Home, Erskine, MN.

A graveside service was held on Monday, September 21, 2009 at Rindal Cemetery, rural Viking, MN with Rev. Timothy Lundeen officiating.

Glenden Hanson was born March 28, 1920, the son of Henry O. and Caroline (Nygaard) Hanson in Middle River, MN. Glen farmed and worked in agriculture in Central and Northwest Minnesota for much of his life. He also worked as a foreman in road construction and supervised several major freeway projects in the Twin Cities Metropolitan area. Glen honorably served during World War II in the United States Navy and Marine Corps. He was stationed in California and in Guadalcanal.

Glen was united in marriage to Erma Holmstrom of West Valley Township, MN on May 21, 1944, at her parents residence in Newfolden, MN. The couple lived in many places including Minnesota, Arizona, Nevada and Florida.

Glen enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening, playing video poker at the casinos, and visiting with friends and relatives.

Glen is survived by his son, Mahlon, Mick , and his wife, Bonnie, of Miami, FL; 4 grandchildren: Ron, Jason, Dane and Shana, and 6 great grandsons: DeShawn, Malachi, Nathan, Elijah, Devon and Ryan.

He is joining Erma, his loving and devoted wife of 65 years, who passed away August 21, 2009. He is preceded in death by an infant daughter, an infant son, Gary Neal, son, Ronald Keith and 3 brothers and 2 sisters: Mel, Orville, Herb, Pearl and Evelyn.
