Obituary

Glenn A. Johnson, Maple Plain, MN, formerly Goodridge, MN, age 75, died Sunday August 2, 2015 at Haven Homes, Maple Plain, MN. In honor of Glenn's life, a Memorial Service will be held at 11:30 AM, Saturday, August 15, 2015, at Johnson Funeral Service, Thief River Falls, MN, with Rev. Bob Dahlen officiating. Visitation will take place one hour prior to the service at Johnson Funeral Service, Saturday. Lunch will follow the service at Johnson Funeral Service. Burial will be held at Goodridge Cemetery, rural Goodridge, MN. Glenn Arnold Johnson, the second of seven siblings and the first born son of Albert and Gladys Johnson was born on July 7, 1940 in Goodridge, MN. Glenn worked hard and enjoyed life with his siblings and cousins. He loved the outdoors, fishing, hunting, woodworking, and working in the fields. As a young man he decided to venture out and go to the Iron Range to find work. He found work and also met MaryAnn Licari, the gal who became his wife and the mother of his six children. Whenever he and his family went to visit his folks in Goodridge, Glenn always had so many stories to tell. Whether they were all true or not, we were not sure, but they made us all laugh. There were stories about the big fish or the huge buck that he had to track down or things he would find on his garbage route. Glenn was a man who liked to laugh and help others laugh too. In 1984 at the age of 42, Glenn had a stroke and aneurysmthat was a tough one to take. Even though he had days of anger and skepticism, he plowed through 32 years with a great compassion for others - he was always so gentle and concerned for everyone else. He enjoyed his electric wheel chair and cell phone. In fact, when he wanted to get into Haven Home they did not allow electric wheel chairs, so he had to pass a driver's test! He passed and never once was a threat to others or had to be disciplined for driving too reckless. His son and daughter-in-law, Greg and Pam lived close by and were able to bring him to their house on Sundays. In later years they brought him home cooked meals of fish, venison, etc., which they would eat together. He thoroughly enjoyed the food and visits. On Sunday, August, 2, 2015, Glenn joined his mom in Heaven 50 years later to the exact date. May his memory be blessed. Survivors include his children: Charles (Nancy) Johnson, Gregory (Pamela) Johnson, Susan Tyssedal, Joseph (Kerri) Johnson, Mitchell (Ericka) Johnson and Angela Johnson; 14 grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren; the mother of his children, MaryAnn Johnson; sisters and brother: Myrtle Sunsdahl, Ruth (Ken) Sanders, Lila (Joel) Killoran, Marlys (Mick) Hudson, Lois (Ron) Philipp, and Gary (Norma) Johnson. He is preceded in death by his father and mother Albert and Gladys Johnson; grandparents; nephew, Chad Johnson and brother-in-law, Orvin Sunsdahl.
