Obituary

Glenn Pahlen passed away August 2, 2018 at rural East Grand Forks, MN.

Service of the Word will be held on Tuesday, August 7, 2018 at 4:00 PM at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Red Lake Falls, MN with Father Bob Schreiner Officiating. Burial will be held at a later date at St Dorothy Cemetery at Dorothy, MN. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service on Tuesday at the church.

Glenn Pahlen was born January 5, 1953 at Crookston, MN; son of the late John and Lucille (Sewill) Pahlen. He was raised in Euclid, MN and attended school in Crookston, MN.

In early 1971 Glenn entered the US Marine Corps. He attended Marine Boot Camp in San Diego, CA.  In 1972 he was stationed in Millington, TN at the Millington Air Base where Glenn served as a Marine Jet Mechanic. Glenn was united in marriage to Violet Simanovski March 18, 1972. During his enlistment while stationed in Tennessee his son, Chris and daughter, Janel were born. Glenn was honorably discharged on March 3, 1975. Shortly after making their home in Minnesota, Craig and Amy joined the family.

Glenn worked for Vigen Construction, Klipping Brothers and worked on an oil rig crew in the 1980 North Dakota oil boom.  Glenn's desire to travel took him to many destinations in the United States from Florida to Washington, and many stops in between. Then Glenn found his true passion of farming with local farmers.  He took great pride in his ability to repair and fix equipment.  Glenn retired from farming due to health conditions.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing, cooking, canning, farming and spending time at the lake.  Glenn really loved his mom's Carrot Bars...so much that he would often make them to share with friends and family. One of Glenns favorite past-times was listening to the Trading Post on KTRF. Glenn had a special relationship with his grandchildren, as well as his numerous neices and nephews. As tough as Glenn thought he was, he was just like a kid in a candy store. His smile and that special twinkle in is eye will always be remembered by those that knew him.

He is survived by his children: Chris (Lyn) Pahlen of Chisholm, MN, Janel Pahlen of Virginia, MN, Craig Pahlen of Middle River, MN, and Amy (Kevin) Schroeder of Embarrass, MN. His grandchildren: Troy (Dawn) Busch, Jesse (Ayla) Debeltz; Kylie Schiefert, Brooke (Corey Franklin) Neari, Kansas Neari, Dylan Jurenic, Jake Neari; Landon Olson; Logan, Isak, and Kai Schroeder; great-grandchildren Ivy Sanderson, Jaxten Busch; Greyson Schiefert. Siblings: Randy (Jeanine) Pahlen, Frank (Bonnie M.) Pahlen, Laura (Curt) Beyer, Valerie (Darin) Myhre all of Red Lake Falls, MN, and Linda Hanson (Keith Fuller) of Mentor, MN; brother-in-law Arthur Klipping, sisters-in-law Bonnie J. Pahlen and Renae (Steve) Philipp all of Red Lake Falls, MN: along with many nieces and nephews and his children's mother, Violet (Ronnie) Rudd.
