Gloria L. Anderson, 86, died Thursday August 9, 2012 at Oakland Park Communities, Thief River Falls, MN. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, August 15, 2012 at Johnson Funeral Service, Thief River Falls, MN with Rev. Bob Dahlen officiating. Burial will follow at the Viking Cemetery in Viking, MN. Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Tuesday, August 14, 2012 at Johnson Funeral Service in Thief River Falls, MN. Visitation will also be held from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM on Wednesday at Johnson Funeral Service. Gloria Lillian (Stokke) Anderson was born on June 26, 1926 in Saskatchewan, Canada, the daughter of Hjelmer and Luella (Rogers) Stokke. As a young child, her family moved to Newfolden, MN, where she attended school. Gloria and Denny DeMaranville were united in marriage in 1943 in Kansas. The couple had three beautiful daughters together. During World War II, Gloria worked in a factory in Kansas doing riveting for the war effort. Gloria moved back to Minnesota and then moved to Fargo to attend Beauty School in 1957. In November of 1958 Gloria was married to Elmer Willard Anderson in Grand Forks, ND. The couple made their home in Viking, MN and raised their son, Jeff. Gloria worked hard in her home beauty shop and for many years, she and Elmer cared for several foster children. Gloria enjoyed summers at their lake cabin at Rocky Point. Her favorite pastimes included doing crossword puzzles, baking, traveling, keeping up with the Minnesota Twins, and visiting with her friends from church. Gloria cherished every minute she got to enjoy with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Gloria is survived by her children, Marilu Walker of Thief River Falls, MN, Marsha (Donald) Hanson of Moorhead, MN, Donna (John) Mezeski of Newfolden, MN, and Jeffery Dean (Cammie) Anderson of Thief River Falls, MN, and special daughter, Kim Sletten of Badger, MN; grandchildren, Rikki Walker, Bret (Cheryl) Hanson, Barry (Shari) Hanson, Timothy (Beth) Leader, Robin Leader, Kurt (Cherie) Leader, Jason (Crystal) Leader, Holly Mezeski, Heath Mezeski, and Erin Dahlen; 13 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Vernette Stokke; goddaughter, Valerie; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends. Preceding Gloria in death are her parents; husband, Elmer; brothers, Harvey Stokke, Percy Stokke; and grandson, Leon Gonzales and sister-in-law, Vernice Stokke.
