Gloria Hesse Thief River Falls, MN, 69, died Thursday, January 15, 2015 at Pioneer Memorial Care Center, Erskine, MN with her loving family at her side. Funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, January 21, 2015 at Johnson Funeral Service in Thief River Falls, MN with Rev. Robert Dahlen officiating. Burial will be at Greenwood Cemetery in Thief River Falls, MN. Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Tuesday, January 20, 2015 at Johnson Funeral Service in Thief River Falls, MN. Visitation will also be held from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM on Wednesday at the funeral home. Gloria Mavis Helgeland was born at Mercy Hospital in Thief River Falls, MN on October 25, 1945 the daughter of Arnold and Sophie (Torkelson) Helgeland. She was baptized on February 1, 1946 at Bethany Lutheran Church, rural Thief River Falls, MN and confirmed on November 6, 1960 at St. Pauli Lutheran Church, rural Thief River Fall, MN. Gloria attended Knox Elementary School and graduated from Lincoln High School with the class of 1963. On September 6, 1963, Gloria was united in marriage to Vincent B. Hesse in Thief River Falls, MN. They made their home in Climax, MN for a short time, then moved to California where their two sons, Vincent J. and Scott were born. In 1965 the family returned to make their home in Thief River Falls where they have continued to reside. Gloria worked at Arctic Cat for a short time and then decided to stay home to raise their wonderful boys. In the late 1980's, Gloria went to work at Super 8 Motel where she worked until retiring. She liked to do ceramics, reading, traveling, and spending time with her grandchildren. Gloria had a love for country music, especially Elvis, Boxcar Willie, and Charlie Pride. Gloria attended Bethany Lutheran Church, rural Thief River Falls, MN. Survivors include her loving husband of 51 years, Vincent B. Hesse; sons, Vincent J. (Doretta) Hesse and Scott (Kristina) Hesse all of Thief River Falls, MN; grandchildren, Nathan Hesse, Ashley Hesse, Pascale (Bud) Nelson, Todd Hesse, and Vincent Hesse III; great-grandchildren, Beau and Charley Nelson; sisters, Donna (Dan) Kukowski and Diane Gilbertson; brothers-in-law, Joe Hesse, John (Pat) Hesse and Jerry (Connie) Hesse; and many other relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, Arnold and Sophie Helgeland; mother and father-in-law, Clarence and Bertha Hesse; sisters-in-law, Rosanne Holen, Joanne Quam, Dorothy Hesse and Betty Hesse; and brother-in-law, Dwayne Hesse.
