Gordon A. Pittman 88, died Friday, November 17, 2006 at McIntosh Manor Nursing Home, McIntosh, MN.


Funeral service will be 10:30 AM, Wednesday, November 22, 2006 at Faith Lutheran Church, Goodridge, MN with Reverend Bob Dahlen officiating. Burial will be at Goodridge Cemetery.

Visitation will be 5-8 PM on Tuesday, November 21, 2006, Johnson Funeral Service in Thief River Falls, MN with a prayer service at 7:00 PM on Tuesday. Visitation will also be one hour prior to the service on Wednesday.

Gordon Alvin Pittman was born May 16, 1918 in Moylan Township, Marshall County, MN, the son of William Warren and Ida (Conklin) Pittman. He was baptized and confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church, Thief River Falls, MN. He attended school District #98 in Moylan Township. Gordon served his country in the United States Army from 1943-1945, when he received his honorable discharge. He was stationed in Virginia, where he was a jeep driver in the security section.

In 1943, Gordon was united in marriage to Gladys Sabo in Mavie Township, MN. He was employed at Willow Run, MI, building airplanes. The couple returned to Goodridge, MN in 1947, where he worked in the creamery and drove school bus. He farmed in Moylan Township for over 30 years, retiring in 1981.

He married Gloria Mae Liden, May 16, 1992 in Thief River Falls, MN, where they made their home.

Gordon was a past member of the Goodridge Lions. He liked to hunt and fish.

He is survived by wife, Gloria, Thief River Falls, MN; children, Larry (Loretta) Pittman, Thief River Falls, MN and Roger (Rae Ann) Pittman, Goodridge, MN; step children, Darlene Ellefson, Moorhead, MN, Kay (Pat) Fisher, Thief River Falls, MN and Brian (Deb) Liden, Thief River Falls, MN; 6 grandchildren, Lorray (Steve) Rolfer, Lana (Mark) Bruggeman, Melissa (Brad) Breuer, Loren (Lisa) Pittman, Andrea (Brent) Hanson and Matthew Pittman; 8 step grandchildren, Rebecca (Ernie) Nelson, Stephanie Liden, Jessica Liden, Rhonda Ellefson, Valerie Ellefson, Ryan Ellefson, Shelly Ellefson and Randy Ellefson; 9 great grandchildren, Linzie, Bailey, Nicholas, Noah, Autumn, Brooklyn, Anna, Ella, Blake; 3 step great grandchildren, Jordan, Justin, and Jace, sisters, Sharon (Marland) Johnson, Thief River Falls, MN and Ila (Larry) Hagen, Gatzke, MN; sister in law Marilyn Pittman, Buffalo, MN; 2 half brothers, George (Carolyn) Pittman, Goodridge, MN and William Pittman, Iowa.

Gordon is preceded in death by first wife, Gladys; parents, infant son Gary, 3 brothers, Willis, Donald and Raymond; half brother, Art.
