Gordon "Jack" Sunsdahl, 67 of Thief River Falls, MN died peacefully on Tuesday, November 22, 2016 at Oakland Park Communities in Thief River Falls, MN.

Visitation will be held from 10:00 until noon on Friday, November 25, 2016 at Johnson Funeral Service in Thief River Falls, MN. Burial will be on the Sunsdahl family plot at Greenwood Cemetery in Thief River Falls, MN.

Gordon "Jack" Sunsdahl was born on December 7, 1948 in Thief River Falls, MN the son of Kenneth Tilmer and Gyda Elvina (Lien) Sunsdahl. He was baptized into the Lutheran faith and confirmed at Ekelund Lutheran Church rural Goodridge, MN. He graduated from Goodridge High School in Goodridge, MN and attended Northland Community College in Thief River Falls, MN.

Jack entered into service with the United States Navy and served for 7 ½ years during the Vietnam Conflict. He was based out of San Diego, CA and served as a Sonar Technician throughout the Pacific. He was assigned to a destroyer escort. Through his years, Jack did 3 tours to Vietnam. He was Honorably Discharged on June 13, 1975.

Following his return to Thief River Falls, Jack attended classes at Northland Community College and took a job with Arctic Cat. He then went to the University of North Dakota and graduated as an Electrical Engineer. Jack went to work for Fisher Controls in Iowa & Texas before settling in Hastings, MN where he worked for Fisher Controls Rosemount. Jack later went to work for Lindsey Manufacturing in Lindsey, NE.

In February of 2010, Jack moved to Thief River Falls where he has continued to reside.

Jack enjoyed tying his own fly fishing lures, camping and fly-fishing for trout.

Survivors include his sisters, Eldonna Holte in Thief River Falls, MN and Susan Lillevold of the Twin Cities; four nieces; one nephew; and several great-nieces and great-nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents; and an infant niece.
