Obituary

Gust Heden, 92, of Plummer, MN died on Sunday, October 10, 2010 at Altru Hospital in Grand Forks, ND.

Funeral service will be at 2:00 P.M. on Friday, October 15, 2010 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Plummer, MN with Reverend Jonathan Dobson officiating. Burial will be at 5:00 P.M. following the service at Asphalt Cemetery, rural McIntosh, MN.

Visitation will be one hour prior to the funeral at the church on Friday.

Gust J. Heden was born on April 28, 1918 in Wyandotte Township, Pennington County, rural Plummer, MN, the son of Ernest and Rhoday (Thompson) Heden. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith and attended rural school and grew up in Highlanding Township. He entered the United States Army in September, 1946, where he was an auto mechanic. He was Honorably Discharged in May, 1947.

Gust was united in marriage to Ramona Dahlberg on December 23, 1953 at the parsonage at Lengby, MN. He was employed as a heavy equipment operator on road construction for many years. He later worked at Arctic Cat and farmed in Wyandotte Township, where he had cattle and small grains.

He loved to be with his family and grandchildren, enjoyed deer hunting, and loved his dogs. Gust could fix anything. He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Plummer.

Gust is survived by his wife, Ramona of Plummer, MN; four children, Gary (Virginia) Heden of Thief River Falls, MN, Laurie (Daryl) Wagner of Crookston, MN, Steven (special friend, Ivy Holmer) Heden of Plummer, MN and Betty (Dr. Kurt) Grathwohl of McQueeney, TX; 11 grandchildren, Hilary (Justin) Moser, Ethan and Josie Heden, Megan, LeAnn, Katelyn and Evan Wagner, Abigail, Taylor, Bailey, and Allyson Grathwohl; brothers, Olai Heden of Audubon, MN and Russell Heden of Red Lake Falls, MN; sisters, Joyce Hardecopf of Oklee, MN and Eloise Halvorson of Nashwauk, MN; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Myrtle Drager and one brother, Milo Heden.
