Gwen Saurdiff, 70, of Grygla, MN passed away peacefully at her residence on December 9, 2025.

A celebration of life for Gwen will be held at 2:00 PM on Monday, December 15, 2025 at Grace Lutheran Church in Grygla, MN with Reverend Vicki Saude-Worthington officiating. Visitation will be held from 4:00 – 6:00 PM on Sunday, December 14, 2025 with a prayer service starting at 6:00 PM at Grace Lutheran Church in Grygla, MN. Visitation will also be held one hour prior to the service on Monday. Burial will follow at Valle Cemetery, rural Grygla, MN.

Gwen Dawn Hanson was born August 24, 1955, in Thief River Falls, MN to Clarence and Adeline (Erickson) Hanson. She was baptized and confirmed at Nazareth Lutheran Church, rural Trail, MN. She attended school in Goodridge, MN, graduating in 1973. Gwen married David Saurdiff May 2, 1975, and they had four children. They farmed and raised livestock together in Grygla, MN for 25 years.

Gwen was always active throughout her life. She worked various jobs, including the family farm, Marvin Windows, The Steak Knife II, the US Post Office, Machinewell and was currently working at the Farmer’s Union. From flowers and gardening to just watching the birds, her love of the outdoors never faded. She enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, and snowmobiling. She also enjoyed painting, puzzling, watching church on television, spoiling her grandchildren and having “just one more cup” of coffee with family and friends.

Gwen is survived by her former husband, David Saurdiff of Grygla, MN, their children, Benjerman Saurdiff of Two Rivers, AK, Jennifer (Ryan) Wichterman of Plummer, MN, Curtiss Saurdiff of Grygla, MN, and Renae Saurdiff of Grygla, MN, her siblings, RaeAnn (Roger) Pittman of Goodridge, MN, Vicki Lott of Grygla, MN, Grant (Judy) Hanson of Salol, MN, Carmen (Steve) Narverud of Thief River Falls, MN and Aaron (Marie) Hanson of Roseau, MN. Grandchildren Jazzmine Teggatz, Dylan, Dalton, Fern and Adeline Wichterman, Madison and Wyatt Saurdiff, Aria Saurdiff, Oliver Smeby, Jeffrey and Isabelle Saurdiff, great-grandchildren Zoey, Silas, Madden and Kingsley Teggatz and Violet Harris, as well as extended family.

Gwen was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Adeline Hanson, brother, Neil Hanson, and her grandparents, Knute and Gladys Hanson and John and Emma Erickson.
