Gwendolyn "Cookie" Solvik, 71 of Thief River Falls, MN passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 22, 2022 at Pioneer Memorial Care Center in Erskine, MN.

The service to celebrate Gwendolyn's life will be held 2:00 PM on Thursday, October 27, 2022 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Thief River Falls, MN with Rev. Thomas Puffe officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Burial will be at Greenwood Cemetery in Thief River Falls.

Gwendolyn Faye Olson was born May 12, 1951, in Thief River Falls, MN the daughter of Clifford Maxwell and Helen Laverne (Nelson) Olson. She was baptized and confirmed into the Lutheran faith. Gwen attended school in Thief River Falls graduating from Lincoln High School with the class of 1969. She went on to further her education at Bemidji State University.

She married Joseph Nelson on October 28, 1973, and to this union a son, Robert was born.

Gwen enjoyed camping, curling, fishing, bowling, and watching sports in general.

In her early years, Gwen worked for her parents at Kife's Café in Thief River Falls. She also worked at Al & Wally's Grocery Store and Halls Floral and in the early 1990's, Gwen began work at Digi-Key where she was for many years until her retirement.

Gwen married Edward Solvik and the couple has enjoyed each other's companionship for the last 23 years.

She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Thief River Falls where she was active in various positions throughout the years.

Survivors include her loving husband Edward of Thief River Falls; son, Robert (Peggy Haupt) Nelson of Grygla, MN; brothers, Clifford Olson of Grand Forks, ND and Tim (Kathy) Olson of Rochert, MN; and many cousins, niece, nephews and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents, and an infant son.
