H. James "Jim" Erickson, 80, of Thief River Falls, MN, passed away at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester, MN, on April 3, 2012. Funeral service will be held at 11 AM, Monday, April 9, 2012 at Johnson Funeral Service, Thief River Falls, MN. Burial will follow in the Rux Cemetery, Rural Thief River Falls. Visitation will be held from 5 - 8 PM, Sunday, April 8, 2012 at Johnson Funeral Service, Thief River Falls, MN, and also for one hour prior to the service on Monday. Henning James Erickson was born on March 21, 1932, the son of Gustav Melchor and Minnie Sophia (Norman) Erickson in Black River Township, Pennington County, MN. He attended school at Lincoln High School, with the class of 1951. Jim made his choice to serve the Lord in 1945 and remained faithful to his choice all his life. On February 23, 1957, Jim was united in marriage to Sharon Nelson in Red Lake Falls, MN. Jim served in the United States Army as a tank mechanic with the 3rd armor division in Friedburg, Germany. In 1958 Jim returned to work his farm in Sanders Township, Pennington County where he lived and raised his family. He also worked for Steiger Manufacturing and Hyrdra-Mac. Jim's favorite pastimes included hunting, fishing, camping, and spending time outdoors. He was a member of the Thief River Rifle Club. He enjoyed gardening and spending time with his family. His grandchildren and great-grandchildren were a special joy to him. Jim is survived by his wife Sharon, of Thief River Falls, MN; children, David, Grant, Marlo (Mike) Paulson, and Andrea (Shane) Borg all of Thief River Falls, MN; grandchildren, Alicia, Elizabeth, Roberta, Benjamin, Matthew, Libby, and Sophia; great-grandchildren, Jace and Norah; brother, John (Myrna) Erickson; sister, Margaret Crum; nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Jim was preceded in death by his parents and his brother-in-law, Alan Crum. Casketbearers: Grant Erickson, David Erickson, Mike Paulson, Matthew Paulson, Benjamin Erickson, and Shane Borg.
