Hanna Moen, 94, died on Wednesday, June 25, 2008 at the Thief River Care Center in Thief River Falls, MN.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM, Monday, June 30, 2008 at the Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Newfolden, MN with Rev. Nancy Hanson officiating. Burial will follow Spruce Valley Cemetery, Middle River, MN.

Visitation will be held 5-8 on Sunday at Johnson Funeral Service in Thief River Falls, MN with a 7:00 Prayer Service conducted by Pastor Ollie Urdahl. Visitation will also be held for one hour prior to the funeral service at the church on Monday.

Hanna Marie Nelson was born on November 24, 1913 to Gunner and Emma (Brekkestrand) Nelson in Marsh Grove Township, Marshall County, MN. She was baptized at Bethania Lutheran Church and confirmed at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Newfolden. She attended country school in Marsh Grove Township. She worked outside of the house for a few years.

Hanna was united in marriage to Morris Nathaniel Moen on March 30, 1935 in Newfolden, MN. They made their home in New Maine Township. Hanna raised 9 children. She did a lot of baking for area restaurants in her years. She and Morris owned and operated the New Moon Caf in Newfolden for four years. She moved into Newfolden in 1987. Hanna moved to the Thief River Care Center in 2007.

Hanna enjoyed baking and cooking. She did some fancy work and made quilts. She didnt like watching TV. She enjoyed flower gardening. She loved spending time with her children and grandchildren. She always made sure there was something to eat for everyone.

Hanna is survived by five sons: Marvin (Betty) Moen, Thief River Falls, MN, Dale (Linda) Moen, Orlando, FL, Gerald (Elona) Moen, Newfolden, MN, Richard (Pat) Moen, Newfolden, MN, Dennis (Beverly) Moen, Oklee, MN, four daughters: Gwendolyn (Kenneth) Hjelle, Newfolden, MN, Kathryn (Kameron) Harstad, East Grand Forks, MN, Sharon (Ken) Braaten, Bagley, MN, Diane (Gerald) Nelson, Newfolden, MN, 25 grandchildren, 40 great grandchildren, and 4 great great grandchildren, one sister Cora Rantanen, Thief River Falls, MN, several nieces, nephews, and friends.

Hanna is preceded in death by her husband in 1987, parents, 8 brothers, 2 sisters, and 2 great grandchildren.
