Hannah Rose Weber was born April 5, 1916 in Broadwater, NE, the daughter of Harry and Mabel (Klockman) Weber. She was baptized Christmas Day, December 25, 1916 in Germantown, MN and confirmed into the Lutheran Faith. When Hannah was 5 years old the family moved to the Mavie area, where she attended school for a short time. Eventually the family moved to Thief River Falls, where Hannah attended Northrup School and graduated from Lincoln High School in 1933. As a young woman she worked as a waitress at the Palm Garden Caf and Dahls Bakery in Thief River Falls.
On June 12, 1935, Hannah was united in marriage to Theodore Hornseth at First Lutheran Church, Thief River Falls, MN. The couple lived on the family farm in Excel Township. Hannah started working at Northwestern Hospital, Thief River Falls in 1964 and retired in 1981. In 1976, the couple retired from farming and moved into Thief River Falls.
Hannah had a great love of flowers and gardening. She enjoyed reading, loved all children and was concerned about childrens issues. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, where she was active in the Ladies Aid and teaching Sunday School. She also held membership in Christian Women, Steiner and Silver Creek Homemaker Clubs, Pioneer Village, and was a leader of the Steiner 4-H Club.
Survivors include children, Beverley (Arvid) Rongen, Westport, WA, Patricia (Norm) Machart, Cass Lake, MN, Elton (Linda) Hornseth, Thief River Falls, MN and Barbara Wheaton, Kent, WA; 12 grandchildren, Shannah (Sean Fromhold) Rongen, Puyallup, WA, Peder (Teri) Rongen, Tacoma, WA, Kristoffer (Kecia) Rongen, Olympia, WA, Thomas (Stacy) Machart, Valley City, ND, Greg Machart, Grand Forks, ND, Tracy Machart, Bemidji, MN, Carrie (Rob) Miller, St. Paul, MN, Melinda (Eric) Sorenson, Kenyon, MN, Todd (Mary) Hornseth, St. Could, MN, Jesse Hornseth, Thief River Falls, MN, Jack Duffer, Kent, WA and Shannan (Les) Boerner; Pt. Magu, CA; 14 great grandchildren, Hannah Rongen, Kylie, Nicholas, Elizabeth, Boris and Tasha Machart, Jonah, Brook, and Maryn Hornseth, Stephen Sorenson, Joshua Sorenson, Davin Duffer, Curtis and Tad Boerner; sister, Esther Gausen, Thief River Falls, MN, 6 nieces and nephews and many relatives and friends.
Preceded in death by husband, Theodore in 1996, parents, sister, Violet Kolbo and brother, Robert Jenkins. Hannah Hornseth died Wednesday, August 7, 2002 at her home in Thief River Falls, MN at the age of 86 years, 4 months, and 2 days. May her memory be blessed.
