Harlan "Chip" Almen of Thief River Falls, MN, age 66, passed away on Sunday, September 21, 2025.
A Visitation will be held from 11:00 AM until 1 PM, Monday, September 29, 2025 at Johnson Funeral Service in Thief River Falls, MN. Interment will follow at St. Vincent de Paul Cemetery in Plummer, MN.
Harlan William Almen was born on March 18, 1959 in Grafton, ND, the son of Harlen Gerald Almen and Shirley Damen-Ackerland. He attended school in Red Lake Falls and following school he attended the AVTI in Thief River Falls for Ag Mechanics.
Harlan worked for Marvin Windows. Harlan farmed until the mid 80's. He moved to Nevada where he was a heavy equipment operator in the gold mines. He also worked as a door man while in Nevada. Working as an auto mechanic was something he truly enjoyed. Working on and riding motorcycles were his passion. Harlan also enjoyed fishing, playing cards, and hanging out with friends.
Harlan is survived by his grandson, Blake Schultz; brother, Steven L. Almen, of Thief River Falls, MN; nieces and nephews, Kathryn (Evan) Litchy of Thompson, ND, Stacey (John Sorenson) Lamont of Thief River Falls, MN, and Kenneth (Amanda) Miller of East Grand Forks, MN; great-nieces and great-nephews, Kaina Litchy, Kason Litchy, Mariah Lamont, Jordyn Lamont, Carter Sebenaler, and McKenna Sebenaler; and several cousins, relatives, and friends.
Harlan is preceded in death by his son, Jason Gervais; his parents; sisters, Shirlyn and Kimberly; nephew, Nicholas Miller; great-niece, Mya Miller; aunts, Mavis Monson and Shirley Wardinski; uncles, Dennis Wardinski and Glen Monson
