Harland Lee, 79, died on Tuesday, September 26, 2006 at Merit Care Hospital in Fargo, ND.
Funeral service will be 10 AM, Saturday, September 30, 2006 at Zion Lutheran Church, Thief River Falls, MN, with Reverend Gary Johnson officiating. Burial will be at Northwood Cemetery, Grygla, MN.
Visitation will be 4 " 8 PM, Friday, September 29, 2006 at Johnson Funeral Service, Thief River Falls, MN with a 7 PM prayer service and for one hour prior to service at the church, Saturday.
Harland Lyle Lee was born June 4, 1927 in Hibbing, MN, to Harland and Anna (Hanson) Lee. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. At 3 years of age, Harland and sister, Delilah, along with their parents moved to Moose River, MN near Grygla, MN.
In 1945, Harland was drafted into the service and spent his tour of duty in the Philippines.
On June 20, 1953, Harland was united in marriage to Myrtle Jelle at Our Saviors Lutheran Church near Grygla, MN. Harland worked at the Grygla Creamery and later moved with his family to Thief River Falls, where he worked at Bridgemans Creamery. Following his retirement from Bridgemans, Harland worked for Ace Hardware.
He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Thief River Falls, MN, head of Gospel Night at the Pennington County Fair, member of the Meals on Wheels program, Moccasin Garden Club, St. Hilaire Lions Club and MN Deer Hunters Association. Next to his love for his family, Harland loved flowers. He always enjoyed walking, playing piano and visiting with his many friends. In his later years, Harland enjoyed deer hunting with his son, David.
Harland is survived by wife, Myrtle, Thief River Falls, MN; 3 children, David (Diane) Lee, Thief River Falls, MN, Laurel (Loren) Hed, Menahga, MN and Peter (Karin) Lee, Marshall, MN; 9 grandchildren, Josh (Tami) Hed, Dan (Melinda) Hed, Melinda (Adam) Wisch, Tiffany (Adam) Sterry, Ryan Lee, Anthony, Jesse, Bethany and Wendy Lee; 6 great grandchildren; brothers and sisters, George (LaVonne), Kenneth, Vernon (Arlene), Ralph, Gerald (Betty), Leland (Carol), Delilah Anderson, Jean Brenna, Cerise (Dick) Swanson Luhning and Judith (Duane) Kotrba; also many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Earl and infant son, Lynn, brothers-in-law, Theadore Anderson, Russell Brenna and Don Swanson.
